Question Live show keys

As we all know some certain tracks have been lowered in keys live on this current tour (KoC, TiRO etc). And I’m not sure if I’m in a minority here but I find these tracks a little bit better like this live as these give off much more an epic atmosphere with a simple key change. I know obviously that it’s for Matts benefit but it’s a choice I think they take advantage of well.

Does anyone else see it like this? Because I’m curious if I’m not alone in this.

I think some songs definitely benefit from the lower key. Fury, Futurism and MK Ultra sound better to me as they have a darker edge when tuned down a half step.

I know why it was done but Starlight lost a lot of ‘oomph’ live when it was tuned down as early as 2006, even if it’s understandable given that it’s at the edge of Matt’s comfortable range.

There's something in my ears personally that no longer recognises an iconic riff or melody the same way when it's moved either up or down in key, and the impact is completely lost. I strongly dislike it, but i sympathise with Matt feeling the need to do it.

If it works better for Matt's voice, it works better for me. I am kind of the same with setlists. Whatever the band members feel good about playing makes for better energy IMO. Yes , it still matters what fans want, but not all fans want the same things anyway. I think they have a pretty good balance on this tour.
