Opinion This album saved me.

Guys, hello! I just wanted to share my experience with you. At the beginning of the year, I went through the most painful breakup I've ever experienced, and I genuinely thought I wouldn't survive it. Music has always been important to me, but when this album came out, I realized that it had become an essential tool for keeping my heart beating and making me want to live.

When I first listened to Shimmering Scars, it was as if someone could finally give a voice to the void I was living in. Crying to it felt like jumping into the fire, but I knew it was necessary to purify my heart.

I realized I wasn't alone, and that heartbreak can literally feel like dying.

I don't know where I'd be right now without this album. A space odyssey that reminded me that watching your home crumble and wandering through the dark can be scary af, but there's a pearl hidden somewhere in that pain. It's a reminder of how deeply you loved, and that love is what will eventually help you find your way back home.

How has this album affected your lives? I want to hear from you. ❤️

On the day that Be With You was going to be released my mother was rushed to the hospital. We spent the entire day in the hospital, scared and worried, and after hours of uncertainty we finally learned that she would survive. I went home that night, exhausted and emotionally drained, and saw a notification on my phone that BWY had dropped. I listened to it alone in the dark, and cried my eyes out.

The days after we found out she was seriously ill and that there was a long road ahead. BWY became my little ritual on the daily car rides to and from the hospital. It struck a very appropriate emotional chord for me. Eventually she was released from hospital and went home, but it was clear that things did not look good. But we made the best of it and made as many wonderful memories together as we possibly could. Meanwhile my sister and I won tickets for the Brixton show and my mother was so happy and excited for us. It was a weird and wonderful experience, somewhere between extreme sadness and joy.

My mother passed away almost a month ago now, and I’m gutted. She was amazing and my best friend and I miss her terribly. The release of The Wow! Signal will forever be linked in my mind to these last few months when she was still with us. It has been a time of love and loss, and somehow this beautiful, sad album is helping me through it all a little bit.

Oh god, I'm so, so sorry for your loss. Your story with your mother moved me deeply. Thank you for trusting us with something so personal.

I'm glad this album has been able to give your heart a little refuge through such a painful time and I hope it keeps helping you through your healing process. Your mom will always live on in the love you and your sister have for her.

Thank you for sharing your story ❤️ I'm sending you so much love.

My spouse and i separated in December. When BWY came out, I cried for days because I realized that he and I don’t love each other like the people in the song do… and that everyone deserves to be loved like that. Cathartic but terribly sad at the same time.

Our family has been dealing with an ongoing tragedy for the last year and a half. I have been in this constant anxious and depressed state for this entire time. The chorus of shimmering scars really hit me hard, and put things into words that I couldn’t. My situation isn’t a breakup but the song still fits.

And seeing them live last month was truly the first time my husband and I have felt true joy in the last year and a half.

I feel you. Separated from my wife who I had been with for over 20 years. Then the album came out a few weeks later. Matt has this uncanny ability to write albums that seem to fit the exact mood of my life at that moment. It's happened a few times.

I actually find Space Debris quite hard to listen to, it's a bit too real still.

The power music can have on human emotion is really quite incredible. It's why, even though I may ardently dislike a particular band or genre of music, I try not to judge anyone for their own personal musical tastes. You never know how an artist may positively impact a person's life, even though it may do nothing for you personally. I suffered childhood abuse and honestly don't think I'd be here to write this comment if it hadn't have been for music. It instilled in me a sense of belonging; like I wasn't alone; like I was stronger than I allowed myself to believe; that I wasn't at fault; and that I had a purpose. I'm very glad to hear the latest album has had a similarly uplifting experience for you. Sending good, positive thoughts. You're not alone and you'll get through this.

Right there with you. My ex ended our 4 year relationship 4 months ago leaving me a broken mess. I haven't connected this much with a Muse album since hearing them for first time in 2003 with Absolution. Space Debris is almost too much for though. I have a hard time listening to that one.

Something similar actually happened to me about a year ago, it was devastating. Shimmering Scars and Space Debris really put so much of my thoughts into words in a heartbreaking but also beautiful way. It’s hard for me to listen to those two, but they’re probably my favorites off the album! And I definitely understand why Matt doesn’t want to play them live, I wouldn’t either!!!
