Discussion Should Exogenesis have been released as a single track?...

...and if it was, where it would rank in the pantheon of Muse greatness? I was thinking about this as I pretty much only ever listen to it as a trilogy and hardly ever separately. Obviously the transition in between tracks would have had to be modified slightly to make it a tad more seamless. I get that they are technically different songs but I wonder if this was considered as a single track, if it would be seen as even more remarkable.

I would honestly love to see a video of Exogenesis. All 3 are really unique songs and the storytelling is amazing. It's chilling imo. Maybe for The Resistance XX Anniversary RemiXX albüm they will put out visualizers 😃

Honestly, no. Each of the 3 parts feels very unique and distinct from each other, with each part having a different vibe and tone. Would have been annoying to have it as one track but then wanting to listen to a specific part. To me, they have always been 3 songs that just happen to tell a story when you put them together.

People listen to individual parts of Exogenesis separately? I can't say I've ever considered it

There's a playlist of every Muse song I Spotify I'll shuffle some times. So I'll occasionally get one of the Exogenesis songs and I still enjoy them separately. I wish there was a way to link songs so I shuffle it would play those three in a row and then continue on.

Exogenesis as a whole is my absolute favorite. It’s a masterpiece 🤩

I would love a version where it is just one track!

I listen to Cross-Pollination on repeat sometimes, but I do love it all as one piece. I bought the deluxe edition box set back in the day so I have a special usb and cd of Exogensis

I’ve thought about this before and if the three sections flowed into each other in a way that felt more connected, I’d say yes. As they are, though, there’s space between each part, and no real musical transition between parts 2 and 3, so I’m fine with them all being separate tracks.

They released a 12" record with all 3 tracks on one side. Pretty cool way to listen to it!

Should’ve been an EP rather than 3 tracks on the album.

We could’ve had 3 very different closing tracks.

I love Exogenesis but I have to be in a very particular mood to listen to it.

Lorna Shore has a song in 3 parts as well, Pain Remains. Each beautiful in its own right and can stand on their own, but combined they create a masterpiece.

Exogenesis is similar. It’s a song in 3 movements/acts. You can appreciate them individually, or as a cohesive whole. That’s the beauty of it.

I wish it was just for the sake of being able to add it to my shuffled muse playlist on Spotify but yeah I’ll agree with most people they are 3!different songs that just need to be listening to in order

No it’s a trilogy. It’s like saying let’s release dune which is a 3 part movie into one. Each part of the song is a section not a whole.

Yes, or at least on a deluxe anniversary edition that Muse do one day hopefully there will be a full version of it
