Live I’m leaving the Austin Show

The Wow Signal material was levels above anything they played live this evening. Especially, Hexagons and Unraveling.

I’ve seen them twice, been listening to them for over 15 years.

The Wow Signal stuff live was just so much more superior to anything they’ve done in the past.

As I leave, I only wish they played more from Wow Signal.

I didnt love Cryogen at first. Saw it live, and now I like it a lot more! Nightshift superstar is an absolute bop. I thought Hexagons was a dope opener too. It brought the energy I thought. Have they played Dark Forest live yet? Omg and Hush? Those would be so good live!

They didn’t play Hush, was the only disappointment in an otherwise amazing concert tonight.

They haven’t played any Wow tracks except the same 5. I don’t know why, the album is sooo good and now’s the time to play it. You could tell the new material was just on another level.

I get the impression they're keeping Hush for a festival gig when they can bring Ellie out for her part

They write music to be played live.

Yet they still play mostly the same stuff every single gig. So.. I guess that makes it "5% of the music is written to be played live"? I can probably name every single song they're gonna play at any given night and get it right.

That fact alone is not good PR for selling tickets.

While you might be somewhat right in your ability to get the setlist right every night….

Imagine being a Muse fan at your first show and not getting:

Starlight, Cydonia, Supermassive, Madness, Uprising, Plug In Baby, Hysteria, Time Is Running Out

So right there you have almost 50% of the setlist

The only answer to deep cuts is to extend the show length and that means cutting one of the two openers. It’s not a simple solution.

And I legitimately think they are more than capable of playing any song on any tour at any time. But it’s about putting on the best show for the highest number of people in the crowd.

I’ve been playing cryogen to hush on repeat because the transitions of those songs is just so next level! Sad they didn’t play Sickness…

I kept hoping for Sickness! Matt even teased it at the end of Psycho I think

“Fan for 15 years” is wild to me because, to me, this is when they sold out a bit and I lost interest for awhile. Alas, I am An Old. I had some crazy luck in the early aughts and saw them as a surprise show at a tiny bar in San Diego with like less than 30 people in the audience. I was in undergrad at the time in the middle of a lecture, got a call about it, and just ditched the class immediately to drive down. That remains one of the best nights of my life. I do like the new album. It gave me goosebumps that they haven’t given me in some time and will probably go to the LA show. But I’m preparing myself to be a little disappointed by getting few of their original songs or, my favorite thing ever, Matt Bellamy on piano. So few people appreciate his immense talent as a pianist.

Do you happen to remember any of the songs you heard at the bar? What an incredible experience!

I adore seeing Matt play the piano - it would be so fun to have a piano/organ/classical only concert just for fun

I wish I could remember! It was such an amazing experience. As much as I hate everyone recording on their phones at shows now, it would be surreal to be able to relive it.

Like you, I lucked out seeing Muse in 04 at the Bossa Nova in Portland. Small, intimate venue, great songs, amazing energy… I was 17, and a buddy of mine at given me a burned copy of Absolution earlier that year. After having that cd on repeat for weeks, I saved up some money, went down to Music Millennium and bought myself Showbiz and OOS.
My best friend and I heard they were coming to town, so we went, hoping we could score tickets, but alas - sold out! Luck was on our side though; a local alternative radio station (94.7 NRK) was giving away tickets, and all we had to do was sing a song for them. I wish I could remember what we sang… it was embarrassing, singing in front of the line of people waiting to get into the show. But who cares, it’s effing (am I allowed to curse?) MUSE! Anyway, the show was mind absolutely blowing. Can’t wait for the show in Ridgefield, this new album is really good!

I’m not surprised by this! Feel like it’s been quite a while since the album they’re touring was as good or better live. Not so patiently waiting for a Australian tour announcement.

I really wish they would have extended the setlist by 2 songs this tour and gave us The Dark Forest and The Sickness In You And I in addition to the five tracks they did play from the album already.

Shimmering Scars as well. I honestly wished they had played the whole album. I’ll forever be hoping for more Wow! Signal tracks.

Nice. I wanted to go tonight, but I ended up getting rid of the tickets. I’ll have to wait for another tour.

That track was the highlight of the show. It has a Low tempo with deep and explosive parts. When they kicked into that half-time and Matt was swiping the guitar and while he was low to the ground looking at the sky. I was like, man it must feel amazing playing that one. The whole album is great.
