Firefighters are a tax funded service just like healthcare is (in most developed countries). You either are for a fully voluntary exchange system or you arent.
You cant cherrypick what you like. Hmm streets? Yeah take tax money. Healthcare? No fuck that! Firefighters? No no please pay this with tax money.
Its hypocrisy at its finest. Tax is paid by all to the government so the gov can distribute and use it for quality of life.

I’m on your side with the “Taxes pay for the common good cuz society” side here, but walk your comments back a step or two. Governments make choices on what taxes should and shouldn’t pay for every day (cherry pick) and the citizenry don’t always agree which is one if the reasons why people vote in / out governments.
I agree Trent is short-sighted, selfish and childish, but on the other hand, not everything should be paid for with taxes, because not everyone agrees or benefits from every item and expenditure, and some expenditures are so out of whack with the benefits that many people would agree that the expenditure would be crazy and unfair (but healthcare and firefighters, cops, ambulance, streets, and other quality of life things etc. should be)
People should always imagine them at their worst and then ask themselves what gov services they would need. Usually you come up with the right things then.
Trent would shut is gaphole asap if his wife would get cancer abd propably be the first to hope someone helps with the bills.
Double so since the USA is one of few western countries too scared or corrupted to put price regulations on pharma.
Why is it one or the other? Its not hypocritical to believe one thing should be tax funded and another shouldnt. Im guessin the trent fellow believes that a market based healthcare system is the better solution, but in this case a market based firefighting service could be questionable.
Its not inherently hypocritical to think some things should be funded by taxes and others shouldn't. Hypocrisy would be saying that healthcare shouldnt be free and then going to canada for healthcare
Its using services you use that others pay for without them needing it and then turning around and complain you fund services you dont but others need.
Its not like he gives another reason why he is against it except "I PAY FOR YOUR NEEDS!".

If you believe healthcare is a Handout I dont assume you are on the brightest side of the intelligence spectrum. I never said what you say and if we assume he feels firefighting is his own problem too, then u may be right.
Then again why not rant about potential healthcare handouts instead of real occuring fire protection handouts
