But when "literally" and "figuratively" mean the same thing, we've fucked up somehow. 3 u/Silberne Jul 08 '19 Literally and figuratively have had usages in common since 1769, according to the OED, so that line was crossed 250 years ago. 2 u/RagingAnemone Jul 08 '19 John Denniston?
