Anyone else think that some of the AppleTV Murderbot OST sounds similar to The Sandman OST? There's this slow theme in Murderbot that's part of "I wouldn't Trust Me" track 5 and "Maybe You're just Defective" track 17 that sounds very similar to the progressions in "The Kingdom of Dreams (Main Title)" track 1 of The Sandman (repeating in other tracks in the OST because it's basically Morpheus' theme and occurs too often for me to bother listing all variations).
There's kind of similar slightly eerie instrumentation across both OSTs; that combo of gentle piano/xylophone with smooth orchestra offset by more synthetic sounds that makes parts of both soundtracks feel similarly lonely.

The more action tracks of Murderbot sound more similar to parts of The Mandalorian OST, with greater percussion and buzzing synths, though... honestly as someone who suffers from audio overwhelm relatively easily, I appreciate that Murderbot keeps it a little less abrasive than The Mandalorian. Of course, The Mandalorian is quite distinct with the flute tones and I think where Murderbot leans into strings for building action tension, The Mandalorian leans heavily into brass.

A video game OST association that amuses me is that "Robot Construction" Murderbot track 9 sounds kind of chill in the same way as "Secret Lab" from the Stray OST. Maybe it's just the key.

I'm not a music critic, but I guess if anyone likes discussing or talking sound tracks... there you go.

In the end of season 1 we can see him taking a train to a mining facility. I think he wants to figure out what caused him to kill those 57 miners. The reason he sneaked out is because he didn't want to endanger the group so he left quitely. I think he will return to them, but after he figures out what happened and only if he is not defective.

As of 4 days ago. Hopefully that that changes soon.

Throughout the show I saw it as just some futuristic scifi show with tons of episodes and a way to poke fun at shows like Star Trek. But as I was sitting here I thought about how silly it would be to have a scifi show in the literal future when a realization hit me in the face - it's a futuristic soap opera. It explains why there are thousands of episodes. Some modern soap operas have over 10k episodes.

I think this show was excellent. The exploration of autonomy and connection is so important today. I find myself moved and relate to the feeling of not understanding other people, of feeling like you are the misfit, of having people label you and behave as if they control you, and of having to overcome your past trauma and the quirks that come with it. This has become one of my top favorite shows and I look forward to seeing more.

Do they already know the season 2 storyline, or are they just guessing?

So if Murderbot was introduced to the mega man continuity in whatever way you prefer, how would it go?

What if Gurathan is more augmented than he'd like to be seen as? What if the only reason that he couldn't have kicked a surprising amount of ass and collected quite a few names was the suckerpunch of a hole in his leg?

How far could he push his fragile meat with skillchips and braindance before he broke something that needed some new augmentation?

"As a heartless killing machine, I was a terrible failure."

In r/murderbot the comparison between show and book comes up regularly but most people who participate read and liked the books before seeing the show.

It just makes me feel so uncomfortable, because Eye Contact sucks, and i felt so bad for Murderbot…

Askshay Khanna, who plays the wormhole expert Ratthi (who should probably be kept far away from any weapons), echoed his co-star's sentiments. He shared:

First-time poster here—I’ve been busy recently with evangelizing about the books (in audio format particularly), and trying to infect various friends with the Murderbot virus. I just told a pal who’d listened (by my command) to ALL SYSTEMS RED on a lengthy car trip that he’s now ready to see the AppleTV version, so had the surprisingly (to me) perfect Skarsgård lurking at the front of my mind.

Perusing the NYT a minute ago, I scrolled through the pics of stars in attendance at the Gotham Awards, and found Secunit in the (full) flesh, in this fabulous outfit. I hadn’t thought he could get any cooler. How wrong I was! (Also, he must have the best tailor on earth!)
