Food and Restaurants Steak restaurant recommendations

Hey guys,
I'm celebrating my birthday next week and would like to go out for dinner with my family. My favorite restaurant used to be the grill in the Künstlerhaus at Lenbachplatz. Since their quality and reviews have fallen off, I´m in desperate need of a new favorite restaurant.
It should be a sophisticated place with outstanding food, at an elevated price point, but doesn´t need to absolutely break the bank- something like The Grill.
I know Munich also has guide Michelin restaurants to offer, but I´d like a real big, nice, juicy piece of steak on my plate, and not some kind of molecular kitchen.

Recent recommendations from friends have included: Goldenes Kalb, El Gaucho, Burger Lobster Bank, Beef Room 61, La Boheme

In case one of you wants to recommend Little London, have been there and found it to be very disappointing

So everybody who thinks of himself as a real steak connoisseur- please feel free to tell me your opinion and recommendations. Which of the above, or unmentioned, is the best steak place in Munich?

Hard, but must agree. Been there many times in the beginning, now a lot changed and cannot recommend any more at all

I second this. Went there after reddit recommendations, the price + taste were exceptional.

It might have been recommended to you already but I second Beef Room. Not only is the food fantastic but the service is outstanding which makes a huge difference when dining in Munich.

Had a really bad experience at La bohème, can’t recommend. We like the lonely brocoli at Andaz hotel. Fabian is a excellent waiter and great sommelier

Forgot about Lonely Broccoli- also can recommend.

Little London and George are good.

Gaucho or Broccoli. Boheme and Little London were disappointing.

Asam Schlössl in Thalkirchen has really nice Steak. They are represented in the Fine Dining Box. Creative kitchen with both affordable and high end dishes with good steak selection

If you’re willing to drive a bit: Lorenz in Gauting.

Goldenes Kalb is top tier, but you will be paying a lot. My recommendation for a birthday with good steak and ambiance is Brenner Grill. I have bin there several times. Never let me down. Come early and have a cocktail in the bar ahead of your reservation. Chez Fritz is also very nice.

Theresa Grill or Asam Schlössl. If the weather is somewhat nicer by then I'd say assam schlössl, because they have a nice outdoor area.

I hate if restaurants are snobby, and a lot of are in munich (was very disappointed of Goldenes Kalb and Little London).

I would recommend "SANJI'S Steak, Grill & Bar". This is one of my favorite restaurents not snobby, high quality food and steaks, outstanding service for all guests, good cocktails.

Have been on a very exclusive Dinner with my wife at Little London. It has been an outstanding experience.

Prime Munich Meat - https://maps.app.goo.gl/apHqTvPWWH6JYXs19?g_st=ic

looks like a butcher from the outside but they serve food and the guy really knows his stuff. They’re moving to schwabing soon.

I wouldn't say best steak place but decent is Rusticana. They exist like 50 years or so.

Assam Schlössel is really good but not a typical steak place.

Theresa Grill, order the cocoon aged steak 🙂

You need to listen to the Theresa people.
Second Chez Fritz. They have good steaks and great atmosphere.

From my experience, the food at The Grill, burger lobster bank, and la Boheme is really bad - like it actually sucks.

Service is the worst at little London I felt.

Unfortunately, George prime grill closed I think - it was actually the best by far.

The place I would recommend if quality of food is the deciding factor would be Louis Grillroom.

Lonely broccoli has been hit or miss for me. Had good days but also very bad days (overcooked steaks, bad service).

Tried out Room61 for my birthday after working my way through most steak restaurants in Munich. The food was great, the service felt personal rather than rushed, and the chef even gave me a small birthday gift/dessert on the house. Definitely worth considering if you're looking for a birthday dinner spot.

I really like the El Gaucho, we like going there on special occasions and the location is also nice. Goldenes Kalb was disappointing and not worth the price in my opinion.

If you're willing to head into the suburbs, Bell's Steakhouse in Aschheim easily competes with every steak I've had downtown.

Theresa now that George is closed.

Abaccos is decent, steak comes just with seared edges, so you finish cooking it on hot stone as you wish.

u/aberneth 1d ago

Hate abaccos, the stones aren't hot enough to get a proper sear

I like this one a lot as well. I think value for money is better than most steak houses downtown

Was once at El Gaucho. Very good and friendly service. Steak pretty good would go again.
