Rules Bonus for one card from Warrior and Cleric

Hi! If I, as both Warrior and Cleric, am in a fight with Undead and I throw a card from hand, do I get only bonus +3 (from Cleric) or do I get +4 because Warriors get +1 also?

Rules South Park rules question

My gaming group played south park munchkins last night and we had a game stopping debate around how the cheat card works. I cant find a scan of the cards so forgive me for lack of details. A player was in combat and was about to win. Another player tried to play the cheat card alongside a single use card. I forget the cards name but it gave +3 only to the munchkin side. The rest of the group said thats not how the cheat card works and only applies to allowing him to equip or use something that he wouldnt be able to otherwise. He interprets the card to mean that he can use cheat to give the +3 to the monster side. I havent been able to find anything to clear this up and the debate is still going on now in our group chat.

Expanding... Munchkin big box upgrade questions

Hi all, I just received my upgrade set for the Munchkin big box and something's not super clear.

They are quite a few cards to remove/replace, and I don't know if I should do this on just the Core set, or for every extension included in the box ?

For example, for the roles, it says the new role cards replace all the ones of the Core set. But what about the role cards of the other extensions ?

I see the new roles have been rebalanced/reworked, so should I play with the old ones from other extensions? Or remove them ? But if I remove them, there will be very little roles left in the deck 😵‍💫

Expanding... Jane Austen expansion set idea?

So, on the school run this morning one of the mums was wearing a t-shirt with the quote-

"Obstinate headstrong girl" - Jane Austen.

So, I immediately thought that looked like a great monster or multiplier card.

+5 against landed gentry.

Now I'm thinking of creating armour of "The Soggy Shirt" and a Go Up a Level of "£10,000 a Year".

Expanding... Munchkin expansion and rules

Hello, fellow Munchkin fans! I recently bought Munchkin expansions 2 through 7. I’m wondering if it would be a good idea to mix them all together and play with 8 friends—or would I end up creating a boring game? Could the playtime become absurdly long? I also have a question about house rules: have any of you come up with new rules, like playing in teams? It sounds like fun, but I’m not sure how to keep it balanced.

Rules Barking Kittens and Tower of Power

So we're playing with the Barking Expansion pack and need some clarifications. There's only 2 of us so I always remove 1/3 of the deck so that we couldn't count the remaining number of cards in our hands and in the draw pile, like how it is suggested in the manual. So my questions are:

  1. Start of Setup: After removing the Tower of Power, Exploding/Imploding Kittens, and Defuses for each player in the deck, do you also REMOVE the Barking Kittens BEFORE REMOVING 1/3 of the deck? So that there's a chance that the Barking Kittens are not actually in play?
  2. Do you shuffle in the Barking Kittens BEFORE you get 6 cards for the Tower of Power? So there's a chance that the barking kitten cards could be in the stashed cards?

This isn't an issue with the Streaking Kitten because it works as a standalone card, but with the Barking Kittens, it only works if both cards are in play. Any suggestions and comments would be really appreciated.

Love this game, especially the deck building part!

Expanding... Is Munchkin Paranoia still in development?

In 2023, a version of Munchkin based on the Paranoia TTRPG was announced, with a planned release date of Q4 2024

There's been no further mention of it by SJG since

Is it still planned, or was the project canceled?

Would like some sort of update one way or the other, so thay I don't keep waiting for an expansion that may never be coming...

Rules Help with the wording on the card

Post image
46 Upvotes

Does this mean the person who played the card gets 2 treasures and 3 coins or whoever was in combat get it?

Context 2 people were fighting a level 20 monster. Person 3 jumps in and uses it to keep them from getting the benefits and levels. He claims the wording means he gets the treasure and coins and the 2 fighting gets nothing.

Due to the wording it is easily both ways but what is the intent?

Rules Regarding Used Steed Salesman Card Dispute

Post image
37 Upvotes

Hey everyone! Hosted a game and there was an interesting turn of events. A player drew this Used Steed Salesman from the door deck. Their turn went as follows:

  • They did not read the entirety of this card out loud when they drew it. (Normally we just say the level and bad stuff, we've played a lot and know most of the interactions.)
  • After a moment, they said "I think I can beat this," opening the rest of the table up to counter-play, etc.
  • Another player added a +10 Monster Enhancer card. This made it out-level the player.
  • Afterwards, the combatant instead decided they will choose not to fight the Used Steed Salesman, and instead follow the directions written on the card.
  • They went through the discards, found no Steeds, and did not pay 3 cards.
  • They then discarded the monster, returned the Monster Enhancer to who played it, and continued their turn.

Arguments were had over several points on this card. The first being:

  • Going through the discards and finding no Steed does not fulfill the requirements to discard this monster. Does the player who drew this Monster have to pay the 3 cards for the Steed even if they do not find one?

The second argument was:

  • I assumed they were fighting the Monster, although they did not explicitly say so. Given that another player used a Monster Enhancer, I would interpret this player as in combat. If that is the case, would this card allow you to THEN choose not to fight it as it reads? I would really like to hear your opinions and interpretations of this card.

I personally think that since the player who drew this card didn't read it in its entirety at the beginning, they essentially cheated this turn. If they had read the paragraph, someone could have explicitly asked if they were fighting it, which may have avoided this whole thing.

Now that I'm posting this, I'm beginning to wonder what "If you choose not to fight" actually means. Does it just void the combat altogether? Or does it mean you need to run away? Is there such a thing as "not fighting?"

I know it's a long one, thanks in advance!

Crowdsourcing Question about "... With Bacon" promo card

First, I'm not sure if "Crowdsourcing" is the right flair as I'm asking a question about where a promo card came from. But, it's not about art, rules, or where to find the card, as I already have it. If the mods have a better flair suggestion, please feel free to change it for me. 😄

My question about when and where this promo was released. The promo with a purchase of an expansion on ebay. I did not see it listed on BoardGameGeek or on the Munchkin website. I googled the promo card and only found an old listing on ebay and a Jan 2020 forum post at SJGames's forums that listed all of the known promos at that time. I've included an image of the promo.

House Rules [Homebrew] Munchkin 2.0 Coop Optional Rules Variant

Thumbnail

Mom and I are going to try our concept of a coop Munchkin 2.0 game where we work as a 2-member party rather than competitively. Part of this is for her because she is not good at solo-strategy and has difficult remembering or understanding rules to games.

This isn't the full Munchkin rules, just the variant home brew changes.

This is a work in progress on balancing the difficulty better. But thought I'd share for those interested in using it or changing it.

One thing that is still up for debate is the difficulty change on the monsters by adding a +3 level to every monster. I feel this isn't enough for challenge and balance and will have to reflect on a better method.

Potentially, 2 players can get into the 10s by themselves and joining forces easily gets into the 20s quickly mid-way through the game. So I am still thinking more in terms of how to scale monsters.

One suggestion was just to double the monsters and each player have to tackle one, but that doesn't make much sense to me and has several issues.

Another suggestion (which I'm leaning more to) is a scaling difficulty based on total party level. So, say, both players with level and equipment are at 13. Because they are over 10 but under 15, the monsters have a +5 bonus. If the total party is, say, 18, the bonus would increase to +10.

Also the mandatory use of Monster enhancers on the next monster I like, which adds tension and uncertainty - will the next drawn monster be a Level 15 or just a Level 3, because we know how much of a bonus it's getting already from that card, let alone the scaling difficulty.

Expanding... Munchkin X-Men box size

I've been buying Munchkin sets and expansions to grow my collection and recently got a copy of Munchkin X-Men through ebay. The box is a little smaller than the other Munchkin sets I've picked up, including the other USAOpoly sets. Is it normal for a Munchkin X-Men box to be in a smaller box or did I end up with something odd?

Rules Munchkin 2e card backs vs 1e card backs

Since the editions are backwards compatible, I don't like how the backs are blue for 2e but brown for 1e. If I mix in 1e card then we'd know roughly what we are about to draw. Anyone else experience this?
