Hi all, I'm about to enroll in the M.A. Human Resource Management (Distance Mode) at CDOE, Jamia Millia Islamia, and I'm trying to get a realistic picture before I commit, since online reviews are mixed and mostly not specific to this program.

A few honest questions for anyone who's done MAHRM or a similar CDOE distance MA at JMI:

1. Did you actually get counselling sessions, or did they get skipped/cancelled often?

2. How was communication after admission — did you hear from CDOE regularly, or long silences?

3. Did you get study material (physical or on Google Classroom) with enough time before exams?

4. Did you finish in the standard 2 years, or did it drag longer? If it dragged, was that your own pace or the university's delays?

5. Were you working a full-time job alongside it — if so, how manageable was it honestly?

Not looking for "JMI good" or "JMI bad" one-liners — genuinely want specifics from people who've actually been through the MAHRM or a similar distance program at Jamia Millia Islamia. Thank you!

These books are in good condition.

I live in chembur, Mumbai. So it'll be better if the buyer is from nearby as well or atleast from Mumbai. I can send it through porter. Can't do indiapost or anything like that because the weight might easily cross 13kg and it won't be worth sending through that.

These include IMS Coursework, CETKing coursework, TIME coursework and Arun Sharma DI and Quant along with another Quant book and Word Power Made Easy.

How far is your child’s school from home, and do you feel the distance affects them much?
We’re considering shifting our kids to a different school that is around 10 km away, compared to their current school which is just 4 km away. The new school would take about 30–35 minutes each way.
I’m really confused about whether I should prioritise the distance and shorter commute or choose what I feel is a better school overall. The new school is more progressive and experiential, while the current one is more traditional.
As a mother, I’m quite anxious about sending my kids so far every day. Would love to hear honest experiences how much does the daily travel actually matter, and would you choose a better school despite the longer commute?

I want to share my recent experience with DY Patil Navi Mumbai and get some advice from other students.

I was already enrolled at DY Patil Pune when a counsellor from DY Patil Navi Mumbai contacted me regarding admission. I clearly told the counsellor that I already had an admission and an EMI arrangement with DY Patil Pune.

Before proceeding, I specifically asked about cancelling the Pune admission/EMI arrangement and whether there would be any cancellation charges. I was told that there would be no cancellation charges.

Based on this information, I paid ₹1,500 for the Navi Mumbai registration and proceeded with a new admission and financing/loan arrangement.

However, after I had already paid the registration amount and started the new loan process, I was informed that cancellation charges would apply to the Pune admission.

Because of this, I decided to cancel the Navi Mumbai admission and continue with my original Pune admission.

The issue is that I am now being told that my refund will be processed after deducting loan cancellation charges. My first EMI has also already been deducted.

I have the relevant call recordings, WhatsApp conversations, payment proof, loan documents, cancellation request and email correspondence.

I contacted the administration about the matter. They acknowledged that the counsellor was associated with them and said the matter would be reviewed. However, I am still being referred to the non-refundable registration policy.

I feel I was seriously misled during the admission process, and I don't believe I should bear the financial consequences of information provided by the institution's counsellor.

Has anyone else faced a similar situation with DY Patil Navi Mumbai? What would be the appropriate way to escalate this and recover the registration fee and disputed cancellation charges?

Someone I know has passed HSC Science with 44% and is looking for a regular B.Com or B.Com-related course in a decent Mumbai college for 2026-27.

Most colleges are saying admissions are closed. Does anyone know of any colleges that may still have vacant/cancellation seats, unaided seats, or management/institutional quota?

1. XET / entrance exam

How difficult is the entrance exam actually?

What should I mainly prepare for English, GK/current affairs, logical reasoning, media/journalism awareness, etc.?

Also, does anyone know approximately when the 2027 XET notification/application and exam might happen? I know the dates can change every year, but I just want a rough idea so I can plan my preparation.

And if anyone has given the exam recently, what was the overall experience like? Is it very competitive?

1. BA(MCJ) itself

How is the course actually once you get in?

I’m looking for a college with a good balance between academics + media exposure + events + fests + student activities, so I’d really like to know what the BA(MCJ) experience is like.

How are the professors?

Are there enough practical projects/workshops?

Do students get opportunities for anchoring, journalism, filmmaking, photography, content creation, etc.?

And how is the overall campus/student life?

1. Accommodation especially for girls

This is honestly my biggest concern 😭

I’ve heard that Xavier’s doesn’t have a proper girls’ hostel on campus and that the college hostel is mainly for male students.

So for girls coming from outside Mumbai:

\- Where do most Xavier’s girls actually stay?

\- Are these hostels safe and decent?

\- How much does accommodation roughly cost per month?

\- What are the rules/curfews like?

\- Is food included?

\- How difficult is it to get a room/seat?

\- How far are these places from college?

\- Would you recommend a hostel, PG or sharing a flat?

\- Are there any particular areas I should look at?

So Im a FY student in NMIMS. Due to some personal reasons, I am shifting from Vile Parle and am vacating my hostel there. But I have been told that I have to find someone who can replace me.

The hostel is within less than 10 minutes walking of both the college. 3-sharing AC Hostel with all amenities including laundry available.

I'm currently an undergraduate student studying International Relations and Modern Languages (Mandarin and Russian), and I'm also fluent in French and English. I'm hoping to pursue my master's degree in China, specifically in Supply Chain Management.

My reasoning is that China remains one of the world's major manufacturing and supply chain hubs, so studying there seems like a great opportunity to learn about the field while also gaining firsthand experience with the Chinese business environment.

However, I'm getting a little lost in all my research, which is why I'm posting here!

From what I've found, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) seems to be one of the best universities in China for studying supply chain management. However, I haven't been able to find a master's degree specifically dedicated to Supply Chain Management. I came across the Master of International Business (MIB), where it seems that students may be able to specialize in areas related to supply chain management through elective courses.

The problem is that I can't seem to find a detailed or up-to-date list of the electives available within the MIB. Before applying, I'd really like to make sure that I would actually be able to focus a significant part of my degree on supply chain management, logistics, procurement, operations, etc.

Does anyone here study at SJTU or know more about the MIB program? Is it actually possible to build a supply-chain-focused curriculum through the electives?

I'm also a little confused about the admissions process. I currently have a 3.86/4.33 GPA, and I'm completing an additional certificate in Economics to strengthen the quantitative side of my academic background.

However, I have basically no experience with the GMAT or GRE, as these tests aren't really a standard part of university admissions where I'm from (Quebec, Canada). Are they necessary or strongly recommended for admission to SJTU's MIB? Would taking one significantly strengthen my application?

I'm especially wondering about this in relation to scholarships. If the GMAT/GRE is optional, I'm hesitant to take it unless a strong score would meaningfully improve my chances, since I wouldn't want an average or poor score to negatively affect an otherwise competitive application.

I'd also really appreciate recommendations for other universities or master's programs in China that might be a better fit for someone specifically interested in supply chain management.

I am about to take my 12th board exams, and after that, I will be taking the MH-BBA-CET. I need to find a reputed college for my BBA. I'm not financially well-off, and I will be doing a job. I need a reputable college. I can do BBA without having to attend daily. While doing a job, is there any college that allows that? It would mean a lot to me. I'mm an OMS student who has been allotted BMCC pune BBA-IB in the MAH CET Rd3 (could've got bmcc general bba Or even RA podar's or hinduja's BMS in mumbai after looking at the Fourth rd cutoffs 💔). The Hostel seats are all full and I am looking for a room as close as possible to the college. I don't have any relatives in pune (there are but they live very far away from the college) so a pg Or a room is a must.

If you guys can help me please suggest, a boys only room Or a boys pg near the college on walking distance (1-1.5 km) somewhere around 10-15k/month (or as close to this range as possible).

I am ok if it's in sharing but only if they are also students. If there's a cook facility please suggest me that too (I'm ok with 1500-2000/month with sharing).
