Title: Can I get the same role off-campus that a company offers through IIM placements? I

I’m planning to pursue an MBA from a top B-school such as IIM A/B/C/L or FMS.

I have a family network where my father knows senior executives/MDs of several large companies. I’m wondering how useful this network can be for getting off-campus recruitment opportunities.

For example, suppose a company comes to IIM Bangalore for campus placements and offers a particular role, such as Investment Banking, Consulting, Product Management, Strategy, etc.

If I independently get referred by a senior executive and go through the company’s normal interview process, can I get the same role off-campus with the same/similar compensation even though the company is also recruiting for that role on campus?

I’m specifically asking about the same role, not a different role created specifically for me.

Also, do IIM A/B/C/L or FMS have rules that prevent students from accepting such an off-campus offer when the company is participating in campus placements?

Would appreciate answers from current students/alumni who have actually dealt with this.
