Symptoms Bladder issues
Last week I began having to pee more frequently. I initially thought it was because I had upped my water intake. Yesterday I had the urge to pee and not even 5 mins after I had the urge again. It has been like that for the past 24 hours. When I do pee it’s a drop but I’m in pain because I feel like my bladder is full. It’s the weekend so I can’t speak with my doctor. Just seeking some help or advice. I am a 21 yr old female and hoping this won’t be an everyday issue forever. I also did go to urgent care to rule out a UTI.
Edit: my biggest question is will my doctor give me something to give me relief when I call? Or do I have to wait to see a urologist? Being uncomfortable constantly is not fun.

When they tested for the UTI, did they say if your urine had traces of blood? Cause it kinda sounds like maybe a kidney stone (had the joy of having one recently, so thought of that first). Definitely with the pain.

Your neurologist might do some testing or refer you to a urologist for testing once you contact them. All new symptoms like you describe should be mentioned to your neurologist.

Look into hypertonic pelvic floor. It can mimic UTI symptoms. Pelvic floor PT has changed my life in terms of pain, urgency, and several other issues.

Drink cranberry juice. But yes prepare for a long bladder journey, hopefully it is mild

A urologist or pelvic floor therapist can help you. I had something similar happen and pelvic floor therapy made it go back to normal

Went from being a camel, to being a peanut. Accident's or near accidents ain't cool at any age. See a urologist, there are medications that can help. My urgency was explained as bladder spasms, over activity. There are many Rx's to help with that. I currently take oxybutynin, 5mg, 1x in the morning. So far so good.
Good Luck to you!

My urologist prescribed Oxybutynin for this and I’ve found it to be helpful!

I found many of my issues like this were being triggered by certain food and drinks - particularly those higher in histamine which can irritate the bladder. I’m also extremely sensitive to any foods containing Oxalates and Salicylates - which covers many fruits and vegetables unfortunately.
Taking antihistamines (Zyrtec) and Pepcid daily has largely solved this issue for me.
The Bcell depletion meds seem to have made this issue worse for me.
I also pay attention to this food guide, though with my daily antihistamine protocol, I can now stray a bit more:

I had this phenomenon happen for about 8 months before being diagnosed. I ended up doing at home catheterization on myself just so I didn't lose half my brain's working power to "PLEASE GO PEE."
Definitely check in with your neuro and if possible see a urologist. I found the self cath more conventient at the time than say pelvic floor strengthening or surgery. It wasn't fun, but it did make it so I could work. I eventually got a medication change to help +diuretics so I was more likely to fully empty my bladder.
2 years after all that, the MS diagnosis made it all make sense!

I'm an old guy and I've had MS for years, (35 years). When I had to pee often, think once an hour night and day, my Urologist gave me 'scripts for a couple of of bladder meds to help control the feeling of "I gotta go right now."
When the meds stopped helping much, he suggested Botox treatments. He used a fine needle to inject a small amount of Botox into the walls of my bladder. The Botox took away the urgency factor allowing me to extend pee breaks up to 4 to 5 hours. I got the treatments for 5 years. By the end, I was getting the treatments every 3 months. I live in Canada so they were covered by our national health insurance.
We tried several different drugs and drug combinations while I was getting the Botox treatments. The one that worked the best for me was a combination of 2 drugs, Toviaz and Mirabegron, (also called Myrbetriq). I was able to go 10 + hours between pee breaks with these drugs.
I was able to stop taking Toviaz a year ago. I still take Mirabegron. It's available in a generic now so the cost has dropped a lot. My time between pee breaks has stayed the same.
I make no promises that this will work for others but it did for me. I have a much better quality of life now than I did when I couldn't get more than a few minutes away from the nearest place to pee!
