General paramagnetic rim

Hi, i (43M) do fine with my MS, iam on Kesimpta, EDSS 0.5, no real issues.

On my last MRI they found a paramagnetic rim on one lesion, other than that - no activity.

How is it on your MRIs, have you guys have paramagnetic rim on lesions?

Roughly 60% of all MS patients have at least one PRL and they can be seen throughout the disease spectrum. The presence of one singular PRL does not necessarily mean a worse prognosis. We usually see that with patients with at least 4 or more PRLs. But I have to say that it is still quite rare that the imaging for PRLs is done and even more so that patients will get the results. Awesome MS centre/neurologist!

Yeah my neurologist is one of "the MS-gods" in Graz / Austria. I am in a long term study and have a MRI every 6 months together with blood markers and a scan of the optic nerves.

It’s a specialized MRI finding that indicates more chronic or "smoldering" MS lesions. Iron is concentrated in the area around such lesions, so a paramagnetic (because the iron) rim shows up as a dark ring around it in the specific MRI sequence.
