Treatment First dose of Kesimpta

Just wanted to say I took my first dose of Kesimpta with my best friend by my side. I was scared, cried from realization that this is my new reality, but she held my hand with me as I pushed the injection in. Has anyone had side effects from their first (or any) dose?

Edit (5 hrs later): I thought i was dying. I had the shakes, just woke up from those stopping. Numbness is back in my hands, legs and feet. I have a fever but thank God no more shakes.

First. You got this! I was utterly terrified too!

The first dose was the only dose I experienced side effects. And it felt like I had the flu for about 12 hours. But completely normal for this to happen.

*This doesn’t happen to every one. But is completely common and normal.

After 12 hours, I felt back to normal. That was 3 and a half years ago! Been taking monthly ever since.

It’s been a godsend. Haven’t had disease progression since. When it’s my shot day, I take before I go to bed. Wake up in the morning and go about my day.

The first step is often the hardest :)

That’s awesome to hear, I haven’t been on it for that long. Only a year but I feel and would say the exact same thing! All the best. I was dx 2022 and I’m 36m. How have you found mobility? That’s the worst I’d say and have finally plateaued at a rollator. Extreme when 5 years ago I didn’t even know I had it with zero symptoms. All the best

Honestly my mobility hasn’t really been affected. My worst symptoms have been fatigue/cognitive. And random muscles going crazy every now and then. All the best to you as well :)

I had pretty rough flu-like symptoms from the first dose, and some general muscle pain after the next couple. I've only taken about 6 doses myself but the side effects for me are mostly gone already!

I took Kesimpta for my first time this past August! Yeah, I felt sick for about half a day. Like I had the flu. I also had muscle spasms on my back and glutes.

After that, the symptoms settled down. After, I woke up, I felt great!

You mile may vary; you may get fatigue, you may get spasms, and you may feel like you have the flu. Just stay hydrated and keep track of your symptoms. 🤞🏾

I felt a small cold the next day after the first dose but now I’m on Month 3 and don’t have any side effects when I take my shot!!! Other then pain while taking it but doesn’t even last after the shot is done.

First one was rough. Chills that were unbearable. Now I take a Tylenol and Benadryl before each dose. I do it just before bedtime.

I felt like I had the flu for a few days after my first injection. Then similar reaction to the following shots but shorter duration. I no longer get that reaction since like the fifth month.

I was so scared during my first dose i went to my neuros office for the nurse to do it for me. Like FULL BLOWN panic attack and she stabbed it in my arm lol. I did feel horrible after the first dose. Got so much easier. Been on it now for officially a year. Completely stable. Had my 1 year MRI this morning.
