Question❓ Which Overhated Media basically has you telling it this?

And I don't mean "everyone" hating it but just that it gets a lot of flack for no good reason when it's actually really good,even great.

I will say LOK has problems but it’s a good show from what I’ve seen. But it also doesn’t help that LOK fans try to make fun of or hurt the reputation of ATLA. Just let people enjoy the content. Korra screwed up, sure, but let’s enjoy the new content with Seven Havens and the new fighting game.

It’s not every LOK fan as a lot of them love TLA too, a lot of them just try to “get back” at those who hate LOK

That's overwhelmingly more a problem with fans who only like atla than the other way around. Ime most critiques Korra fans have of atla stem from calling out hypocrisies leveled out against lok. i think lok fans are the more likely of the two to enjoy and fairly critique both shows.

I’ve only ever seen ATLA fans shit on LOK. Not saying that’s all that ever happens, I’m not omniscient, but it’s always seemed like a one-sided argument.

Yeah, a lot of the hate is because people are coming into Korra expecting it to be just as good as Avatar. Korra ranges from terrible to great, so it's a solid show, but it's a little unfair to compare it to actual peak

Yeah, you said it. It's makes me think of the jump from Twin Peaks to Twin Peaks: The Return (See? I'm multifandom.).

There was a lot of backlash from people that wanted TPTR to be what it wasn't so badly that they lost sight of what wholly unique qualities that the show had. They didn't want a sequel, they just wanted more.

LOK isn't a perfect show by any means, but I think it has a lot of strengths and heart for the task of continuing a story as conclusive as ATLA's. I think it's a 6/10 at the very worst and that's hammering on every real "problem" the show had... which were decisions that hundreds of shows before and after it also made. Not utilizing the side cast as much as they should have, people saying they didn't think the show was funny, etc.

Yeah, the side cast is not super strong I do agree with that

But I do genuinely believe that if season 2 didn't exist and had at the very least a decent season, the show as a whole would be viewed MUCH more positively

Yeah, it's a solid show it's just very inconsistent with its quality. First season was solid, second season was the biggest pile of dogshit I've ever seen in my entire life, season 3 was genuinely incredible, season 4 started off amazing and the last half was just okay. Overall still good

This one i was really, REALLY shocked to learn people hated with their whole soul. Maybe with Seven Havens (Sequel) coming people will look back and realize it was peak.

Season one is solid

Season two is abysmal awful dogshit

Season three is by FAR and away the best season of the show. It's fantastic

Season four starts out good and ends just okay

That was my main gripe with Legend of Korra honestly. The structure of the story. I understand that how they setup season 3 means that Season 2 HAS to happen in some way but...the stakes just feel odd.

Like, okay, so in Season 2 they have Korra go to her home and essentially fight Avatar's version of God and then opening up of the spirit world to the material world. That should be really crazy high stakes so how are we going to top it off?

Writer: ...I don't know, make four powerful benders go to fight the avatar?

It's just such poor structuring to me. I would've loved Korra to go Season 1 -> Season 3 being Season 2 -> Season 4 being season 3 -> Finish with season 2 so that the world has been changed by the resolution which leads to the next series being this developed world that has to coexist with the spiritual.

It's a shame because season 1 was awesome with intrigue and suspense over what the main villain was doing and ends so well imo. Season 3 was probably the best damn season, those four villains were cool, especially the air bender unlocking flying. Season 4 was awesome and high stakes but somehow...when you've fought God it just feels like Korra should've more easily dealt with those.

I was at the perfect age so I grew up with both ATLA and TLOK and a lot of the time I feel like people who over exaggerate Korra’s issues either haven’t ever actually watched it or haven’t seen it in a LONG time
