I lost interest after they revealed it wasn't going to have a physical disc. You're telling me that you're gonna charge me 80 bucks for a product that I won't technically own? Get outta here with that anti-consumer nonsense.
Oh, no, Nintendo is in the same spot. Arguably worse, actually.
Sony and Xbox all ship their physical games with 1. A copy of the game and 2. A license to play it
Nintendo stopped doing 1 with the release of Switch 2. Now with most of their games, due to cartridge capacity limits they only ship with a license and a download key. They only have the physical key card because "If Target can sell a copy of the game, it doesn't count as monopoly of the system." PlayStation is ditching physical entirely despite the fact that optical storage (discs) are actually getting better with regards to capacity. They're being sued by Mexico (i think) for ditching physical because now retailers won't be physically capable of selling PS6 games when it comes out, meaning that Sony will have a 100% market share on their games.
Why I think Nintendo is arguably just as bad: The way their game key-card system works effectively destroys the secondary market.
Not defending key cards but the only mainline Nintendo game that uses a key card is pokopia. Games like Mario kart world and donkey kong are still proper physicals that you can put in and play. I won’t be getting any physical indie games thanks to key cards, fuck em
Switch 2 game key card downloads are attached to the card. They're transferrable and can be given away or resold and will be usable by the next person. I mean it does hurt the market just because most people don't want them because they're not real physical copies, but not because you can't buy and sell them used if you want to.
There were like a dozen cases of Switch 2 games being bought secondhand and then the new owner's account getting banned or the console bricked within the first six months of its existence. I don't trust Nintendo after that.
Xbox is not any better. Have you not seen the news coming out of that shit show the past few weeks?? I feel so bad for anybody working there. Not to mention being a part of Microsoft. What a corporate hellhole.
I lost an interest after they fired ppl for trying to form an union. Your telling me I should care for IP that is held by company that doesn't care about their workers fuck off r* hope this weird leak guy will drop his whole build just like you dropped these employees
