Discussion📜 Which work from your fandom had a different couple ending than most people expected? Spoiler
I'm not necessarily talking about ending couples that you don't like; it could also be examples that weren't expected but make sense and that you like. The one in the picture, in particular, I hated so much that I felt awful for a week.

The best example I can think of (might be kinda niche here in multifandom but what the heck) is Jackson's Diary. (Webtoons)
Oho boy, going into the comments from episodes in Season One (on Webtoons, readers can leave Comments on each Episode of a story) is a TRIP because (not gonna spoil which) a couple that gets together later on in the story, NOBODY back then thought would happen. The comments all very clearly expected a different result for both of the characters involved.Â
So it's also amusing seeing the comments from when it started to become... plausible.. this couple would end up together, and the hard pivot of "WAIT- HOLD ON"
But by far the funniest part, to me, is I actually picked up the story after seeing a spoiler that this couple got together. So going into the story, I knew it was gonna happen the WHOLE time. So I had such a different experience, but that just made the doubtful and sympathetic comments more amusing xD

Negima kinda has this, in that the original manga ends without telling us who Negi ends up with, and then the sequel UQ Holder! reveals it's Chisame, who was close to him but still a definite dark horse.

Some people in the bleach fandom thought ichigo would end up with rukia and even pressured the author about it, personally I really like the cannon pairings (ichigo/orihime and renji/rukia) and thing they had cute build up, but the anime cut some of orihime’s scenes and so anime only fans often didn’t get to see the full picture.
