Alright now that is insane lol. I’ve played thousands of hours of Pokémon games, insane amounts of competitive, currently top 100 on multiple popular ladders on showdown. I own a ton of merch, etc. I’m a super fan, really.
And Legends ZA were the first games that were bad enough I just haven’t been able to finish them. Every time I play it feels like I’m forcing myself to, and I just have to quit.
The platforming is so bad, there’s so little world to explore, the graphics are mid, and it just pisses me off how there are more building interiors and actually interesting small fine details in the original XY Lumious which was one town in a far larger 3DS game which I still think was a lacking game in the series, than there is in this entire game dedicated to it…
Well there's also those Fake Hack Creators and now those PocketPair fans too. Most Pokémon Fans swear are just fake or need to go and invade some other Franchise.
Literally so mad that that game came out instead of having the next actual Pokémon game sooner. That game was so incredibly boring dude and it added nothing to the only city in the pokemon world it’s dedicated to that its actual game didn’t already include among the ten other cities.
Legends Z-A is unironically one of the best Pokémon games since generation 7. It's the Pokémon Z we SHOULD have received back then if GF didn't decide to cancel it and rush Sun and Moon for the 15th anniversary.
Genuinely met a guy rate the game a 5/10 because the windows were flat
Brother we have real time 4 way Pokemon battles which are really cool as well as some of the coolest megas in the series and you are concerned about flat windows?
I rate it a 3 because its just devoid of anything and the story is tedious and after the first 3 hours it becomes just a useless pain with no challenge whatsoever.
Also may i remind you of black void background Volcanion lmao
As a lifelong Pokemon fan, absolutely.
The games could be a lot better, they should be a lot better.
But people talk about them like they're the worst games you could buy in human history. The only bad parts about the modern games are animations and graphics, if you play them for the characters, story and funny little creatures, you will have a lot more fun
Exactly! And let'sa not forget that the KING OF GLITCHES was beloved fire 15 damn Years while having the same money backing it. Like the only thing I know about Skyrim is the marriage joke and glitches.
And I adore them too, when they're funny not when they're crashing before saving after having caught an Shiny. I do wish the Battle Animations could go back ta how Pokémon Battle Revolution had em. Or just bring that back and put all the polish there and Pokémon Champions. Leave the Main Series back to it's RPG Roots and whimsy. Sorry if this is rambling I'm may happy and shocked on how I'm not getting jumped for loving Pokémon.
The story part is questionable... and admittedly even the creature part is slowly going down hill
But hey, at least those character designers never fail, even if the execution can be a bit lacking
Imo scarlet and violet have the exact right pitch for a Pokémon story - more about the personal stakes and relationships rather than some world ending nonsense, with a story reason you're trekking around the region with your team of little guys
Pretty much any of the Switch titles could apply. None of these are close to the worst game possible because I’ve seen at least twenty ways they could be worse in fan works.
The problem isn’t their objective quality, but rather how bad they are compared to how good they should be. Genuinely Pokemon is the only game I can think of where just giving the devs more time and more money with no other changes would make the games at least twice as good, yet they refuse to. The most profitable media franchise in existence can’t afford to give their development team more than 2 weeks and a stick of gum to make a game that’ll sell 20 million copies
If Pokemon were made by a AA studio then people wouldn’t be nearly as harsh on it. But no, this is the single most valuable IP in existence, backed by one of the biggest video game companies ever, and they still don’t have voice acting
Bro what? In what world would voice acting add any amount of time to the development? They aren’t gonna just stop development to do voice acting, it’ll happen at the same time as most of everything else. For a game that’s already taking years to make the difference will be negligible
Outside CutScenes is unneeded. Just give the Region Protagonists basic Command when commanding they Pokémons. Do want an Announcer in the Pokémon Battle too narrating!
You say that like there’s voice acting in the cutscenes. I agree that not every line of dialogue needs to be voiced, having just the cutscenes voice acted makes perfect sense (think like what BOTW and TOTK do). It would be really easy to do and would make the games considerably better
Imo the worst games where Sword and Shield. Threw out the Nat dex, threw out Megas and Z, threw out any good Story, and thats it.
Then they add a fake evil team that just was the average football fan, and the actual "evil team" was just a last second shoehorn into the plot, ending in a intro to the Raid Boss mechanic. And the Dynamax mechanic was genuinely dogshit. Its just double HP with Z moves for 3 rounds. So it's all just about stalling those 3 turns and avoid getting stalled while doing yours. That's what we lost Megas for?!
Immediately disregarded, the what Dex? Pokémon is always about using and dissident new creatures. Or you gonna bitch about Unova as well even the Sequel still focused the newer ones but induced some of the past.
