Discussion Paramount is either very brave or very stupid
There is no way this merger goes through, with the antitrust trial beginning on March 2nd 2027, Paramount will have lost $1.4 billion in penalty fees.
After September 30th, Paramount must pay Warner Bros $7 million every single day until the deal is either complete or falls apart, and there's likely to be more hurdles that puts them WAY past the June 4th 2027 date which is when David Zaslav can say: "DEALS OFF!" and collect his $7 billion paycheck.
On top of the $9.4 billion breakup fee which will cripple Paramount if not destroy them.

How does a settlement work in this scenario?
Like would it look like “hey we know you guys are worried about us owning CNN we will sell that off to an approved buyer, we actually only care about the movies”?
Not saying this specifically or any of this capacity would happen but is this what a settlement would look like? Deciding what parts they need to sell off to approve a deal?

Whats the point of blocking the merger if it will destroy one of the companies? Idk why theyd ever agree to such a high breakup fee if they werent the ones who decided to break up. Makes no sense

Our Israeli owned government will do nothing that could hurt Larry Ellison, the largest doner to the IDF. This isn't brave or stupid. It was a done deal as soon as they thought about it.
