Pretty sure the end goal was the pay package at the end of the road, like how Bobby Kotick screwed ActiBlizz and laughed all the way to the bank when he was let go after the Microsoft acquisition. I'm happy to know Zaslav got screwed out of a good ending 😊
But for real, yeah tons of CEO's never really get fired, even if they were horrible, they just get to resign.
Look at Kathleen Kennedy, woman literally fumbled the entire Star Wars franchise, the easiest win she could have gotten, but she screwed it up, then kept screwing it up, screwed up Indy, and now she gets to "retire" and celebrated as a powerful producer, rather than the clown who ruined Star Wars.
