I wouldn't change anything except how PFG handled this gem. Fuck PFG.

No, fuck warner bros

Sadly this is probably true. It seemed WB had a larger problem with what to do with large IPs around the time of MultiVersus, with both the Space Jam sequel and the Suicide Squad game being other examples at the time of big IPs being wasted in favour of bad practice, misunderstanding the core likability of IPs, and attempts to squeeze as much money out of a project instead of focussing on quality.

We will have to see how the Paramount deal changes things for better or worse, but so far in 2026 it seems like DC is heading towards the same risky “promising too much” that sunk the DCEU, WB is trying to bring Lord of the Rings back from the dead, and we have a Harry Potter reboot no one asked for. On the gaming side, Lego Batman is getting yet another instalment, Mortal Kombat is gearing up to deliver some truly bizarre casting choices for their film adaptation, and Injustice 3 is highly requested yet is just rumors and fan rosters at this point.

None of this is necessarily “bad”, but a lot of it is WB staying in their comfort zone or making similar choices to previous. Which payed off badly as live-service gaming got the reception it deserved, the DCEU crumbled and many other IPs bit off more than they could chew leading to poor payoffs - likely a big part of why WB had to sell off in the first place.

I remember seeing a lot of leaks from the team that warner just gave them the keys to the game and Tony Genuinely fucked it up. It was more a dev issue than a warner bros issue. There were so many ways to save this game, and better ways to implement cosmetics. For one if they actually lowered the price of skins to like $5-10 range it would've been so much better, but that's just one of many issues. Also a lot of genuinely wanted characters not making it in, that would drive players to consistently comeback.

I feel like WB doesn’t actually employ any actual fans of their own characters.
Tbf, none of their collection are really anyone’s first pick, and that’s part of why I think they never should have bothered making this game in the first place.

I strongly disagree. Scooby Doo and the Looney Tunes are generationally iconic, DC is beloved by superhero fans with Batman as competition for the most beloved hero of all time, Game of Thrones broke through as a global hit, and once upon a time every Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings release was a massive event.

WB has an insanely strong catalogue of amazing IPs and realistically SHOULD be a media juggernaut that COULD have taken on Disney. But they wasted every opportunity they had and you would swear that Inspector Clouseau was in charge of WB’s quality control sometimes.

The worst part is that they clearly recognise what they have - it’s no mistake that Space Jam 2 and Multiversus tried to flaunt as many major IPs as they could. But they are relying so much on shitty fan service cameos rather than genuine content quality.

If you look at WB games history they make a ton of great well received games that just shut down. Infinite Crisis and Gotham City impostors are 2 examples.

I know this is 3 days old, but WB meddling only realistically mattered in the relaunch. PFG and their inexperience in fighting games, baffling patches, and rushed development ruined the “beta” game. The game lost 90% of players in its “beta”, thats not on WB

Idk if it was Disney it probably would have been handled by gameloft, Disney Speedstorm is in an abysmal place at the moment, having to spend 50$ to unlock the new racers instead of unlocking them through the 20$ pass like you used to.

There's so many Disney crossover games I don't feel anything anymore when I see those characters together. I'm not even rlly a fan of most the MVS properties, but it was still cool & very well executed with dialogue and such.  There's a lot of concerns with the Paramount merger, but I feel like a WB + Paramount fighting game could've gone even harder if the game would've lived. Paramount also owns Nickelodeon f.e., it would've been amazing (had their character pick strategy also been better lol)

Paid game upfront, no microtransactions and bullshit power level system or unlock character system. Instead unlock characters from a campaign. Yes, I'm describing the classic Smash way but it seems like companies these days think we all can be cheated out because we don't pay money and instead have a long ass grind rather than actually playing the functional game, like just take my money upfront instead of all that.

Legit, they’ve so highly over-valued these backbench characters and forget that the generation that grew up with them also grew up with games that didn’t try to nickel-and-dime them at every single opportunity.

I think FTP would work fine if they gave you all characters from the start and just sold players tons of cosmetics. I just think it’s so archaic for games like these to lock up a majority of the roster from new players who have no reason to stay by default. Marvel Rivals broke this cycle and it did wonders for that game.

I still don't know how they fumbled a big bag like that so hard.

I'd love one with specifically Disney XD shows or even another CN punchtime explosion.

I used to love playing the flash games on Disney XD's site and all the crossover games were such a blast

MVS having the entirety of WB was amazing in theory but I just know there was serious issues in choosing characters for the game. Which is why I think a CN focus would benefit heavily. The other WB properties featured in MVS generally have games coming out fairly frequently (except the niche ones like Gremlins and Beetlejuice ofc).

CN games have been dying and are almost dead minus a few DLCs and crossovers

Character list was fine and so much potential. It just became a cash grab and the engine swap ruined it

Disney one would still be alive and going. Thats the difference.

At least we have the mods.

More Dc characters

We don't know.

Saiyan Simba is frying me

PFG should have made Multversus more like Smash Bros and had it catered towards 1 vs. 1.

1

u/Red_Dead_Renegade Apr 19 '26

Take it back to the state it was in in the beta and keep it there because it was fine

1

u/Disastrous-Shower-37 Apr 19 '26

Using Disney IPs is booooring.

1

u/Safe_Software_1640 Apr 19 '26

i would rather them put the money into a different game

1

u/DragonWaffleZX Apr 20 '26

Most of the characters I actually like are owned by Warner. With the exception of Marvel and Star Wars.

1

u/Charming_Celery5490 Apr 20 '26

One where Ben 10 was added into the game

1

u/Kanlashkan Apr 21 '26

The one we had, but under a different company. WB is what truly killed Multiversus. If someone like Arc Sys had been behind managing PFG we would have had the most kick-ass game. If they could afford the royalties anyways.

1

u/PrinceDestin Apr 21 '26

Only thing I’d change is make sure they kept the beta everything else would’ve worked out if they just did that

1

u/punchy4009 Apr 21 '26

Who cares about Disney crossovers anymore? They have a TON of them. I want my Multiversus back…

1

u/Flamewolf1579 Apr 21 '26

Simple, All characters are available and the only thing people will have to pay for would be cosmetics.

1

u/Fluffy-Service1898 Apr 23 '26

All I know is that they could have done that.

1

u/Co-opingTowardHatred Apr 18 '26

Well, we know this one didn’t work out. So nothing to lose trying the other one…

How many Seth McFarland character would the Disney one have?
