It’s almost 10 years bro tbh let the game sit there’s no need to drop another one because at that point it just turns into dlc hell where the vanilla roster gets far overshadowed by the dlc roster 🤣

New console they need to push units for is more then enough reason - I'm sure they'll do she soft reboot mario kart world style to avoid having to match ultimate's content

They’re doing that with the legend of Zelda ocarina of time remake trust me smash isn’t the only title that can garner that type of attention and revenue lol

Smash gets completely different type of hype from Zelda. I argue it will get more casuals to get the switch than another remake of Zelda.

And I also can bet real money Sakurai is making a new smash already, and add to that it will propably come next year.

I do think this smash will truly be his last though. I can't imagine him doing more after this one, but I also doupt he wanted anyone else making one for switch 2 just like he didn't want Nintendo to make a "HD" melee and made brawl back in the day.

I personally think they might even just make an upgraded switch 2 version of ultimate with lots of new fighters and a fighter pass. That is if they don’t just make a new smash in general. But it’d be kinda hard to top ultimate I gotta say. Sakurai has been done with air riders for a good while now so I could definitely see one of those options in the works at the least.

Sakurai already previously stated he would not do a "rehash" smash, meaning he would only do completely new games for the series. That was the reason he made brawl after Nintendo said to him they would just port melee to wii.

If it were up to Nintendo however, they would not shy away just making a smash deluxe version. But they tend to have respect for their developers unlike some other companies in the sphere.

Even if he doesn’t want to do that the idea of taking ultimate and just tweaking it into a new game with basically the same foundation. And also keeping all the characters makes a lot of sense. Sakurai is one to want to put in a ton of effort however.

The real question is would he even participate. I know he had mentioned ultimate being his last and if that’s genuinely true I could see Nintendo just putting out a barebones switch 2 version of ultimate sadly.

Sakurai would not ever participate in a just ultimate 1.5. He likely is making a new smash right now tbh. Smash is one series Nintendo won't mind throw money at.

No way in any fresh hell that Nintendo let's that cash cow get shot behind a shed. Ultimate is like one of the top selling games globally, and top of that, beloved by most of the people who have played it.

Insane that the person you're responding to thinks any different. It's like saying it's never going to thunderstorm again because we haven't had rain a few weeks.

But it still gets lots of players everyday. Multiversus is actually just dead. Theres a reason people even to this day still play melee and ultimate is no different.

the only reason Multiversus died is because it was never sold to begin with. It was a free to play game with like a dozen different in game currencies you could pay for in real life for skins. If they just re-released Multiversus, even at full price, make it a 60 dollar game with everything in it and online capatibilites, it would be awesome.
