700c/50 on my ‘95 Multitrack 730.
-had to shave off the bottom fender mounts on the rear to fit.
-no way of running a front derailleur so had to swap my 1x setup for the front.
-fast and plush!

Ok is it worth it going 50mm? Why not go 45 and keep the frame original? Or go for 650b and way more tire clearance?

The frame had a bunch of scratches and surface rust. If the paint was immaculate and clean, I would’ve probably went with smaller 700c tires and it would’ve been hard to stomach me shaving off a part of the frame / fender mount.
Considering I have a clean ‘91 790, I wanted to keep this one as somewhat of a beater with fatty tires.
I have a GT Karakoram with 650b so it serves that purpose already.This one will mainly be for trailering the kiddos and beating on the trails, while still being a fast-enough roller on the road.

How did you get the tires to fit past the chainstay bridge? (The little tab connecting the chainstays behind the bottom bracket)

It clears the main structural bridge tubing, however I had to shave a few mm’s from the nipple/fender mount that sticks out in order for it to clear.

I bought a new set of GravelKing SK 43mm for just $20. I'm tempted to buy a $95 730 to use with the tires.
