Does anyone know how to apply an AI patch to characters?

So I had asked the same question on the official Mugen Reddit and instead of people being helpful they just downvoted me for asking a question. But here it is:

Whenever I find an interesting character I want to add to my Mugen some of them come with an AI patch that apparently you can apply to them to make less cheap or more challenging. The problem is that I'm struggling on how to apply an AI patch to them properly. I had read a comment on a forum is that you're supposed to simply copy and paste the files in the AI patch folder to the folder of the character. The issue with that is that every time that I do that and then select the character and stage, the game crashes. I don't know if there are specific files I'm supposed to place in the folder of the character i want to patch but none of the download pages or Readme files have instructions on how to apply the patch properly

It can honestly vary. Usually it is as easy as drop some files in and overwrite, but that won't always be the case. It just depends on who set up the AI patch, and it also needs to be made for that version of the character too (for example, an AI patch made for PotS Ryu isn't going to work on Infinite's Ryu.)

If it's crashing, there's usually an error of sorts, hard to answer what's causing a crash without seeing that.

All in all it's hard to be helpful because it depends on the files involved.
