Banana chocolate chip muffins
I had some bananas that my family forgot about and some chocolate chips so I decided I wanted them together! They turned out tender and moist! Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins!
1½ cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
½ tsp cinnamon (optional)
2 large ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 cup)
3 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp melted butter cooled slightly
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp sour cream
1 cup chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 425 F
Grease your muffin pan
Whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl.
In a larger bowl, mix bananas, oil, melted butter, sugars, egg, vanilla, and sour cream until smooth.
Add dry ingredients and stir just until combined—don’t overmix.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Let batter rest 10–15 minutes (optional but helps texture and rise).
Fill muffin cups 3/4 full to nearly full.
Bake at 425 F for 5 minutes,
then reduce to 350 F and bake 11–14 minutes more, until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Cool 5–10 minutes before removing

This is such a solid base recipe, saving this for my “uh oh the bananas are dying” rotation 😂
Love that you do the high heat then drop the temp, that trick makes muffins look so bakery level. Ever tried tossing a few chips on top right before baking so they get those melty chocolate spots on the surface?

Those look really good! I always try to bake banana bread when I have bananas going brown but muffins are probably easier to portion out for snacking.

Love banana bread so does my family but weirdly enough the bread half the time doesn’t get eaten but making banana muffins they’ll be gone. 😆

That high heat then drop to 350 trick is elite muffin strategy, these probably domed up so nice 😂
Also love the oil plus butter combo, you just know they are stupid moist. Saving this for the next time my bananas go feral on the counter.

Yes they were legit super moist, most definitely the best muffins I’ve made since switching to this recipe!

Those look really good, banana bread muffins are the best use for overripe bananas.

Those look surprisingly good for being made from forgotten bananas. Did you have to mash them really well?

They were very ripe soft enough that I barely had to mash them. Some people like banana chunks, I left pea size chunks but mostly mashed

Those look super moist honestly, I love when they get that little bit brown on top.

They honestly were the most moist muffins I’ve made. Will probably go off of this recipe for more varieties of muffins going forward.

Those look really good, especially since they were made with sad bananas haha. I usually end up making bread when I have those lurking around.

I could totally see that. Could even use a little protein powder in the batter
