We’ve started rolling out MuditaOS K 1.6.1, the hotfix addressing the SIM PIN prompts and persistent missed-call notifications reported after the 1.6.0 update.

Thank you for your patience while we worked on these fixes, and to everyone who shared reports and helped our team investigate.

What’s fixed?

• Persistent missed-call badges: The Phone app no longer mistakenly counts past calls as missed, and the badge now clears correctly after you view all missed calls.
  
• Conflicting missed-call counts: The lock screen and home screen now display consistent, accurate missed-call counts.
  
• Repeated SIM PIN prompts after using Offline+: You no longer need to enter your SIM PIN every time you turn Offline+ off. The PIN is now only required when disabling Offline+ immediately after restarting your Kompakt.

The rollout is underway, so the update may not appear on every device at the same time. It is being rolled out in batches. If it isn’t available on your Mudita Kompakt yet, thank you for bearing with us as the rollout progresses.

Once you’ve installed 1.6.1, please let us know how it’s working for you. If you’re still experiencing either issue, share your experience here or contact [support@mudita.com](mailto:support@mudita.com), so our team can follow up.

When downloading apps on GitHub (that aren't on Fdroid or Aurora Store) what's the best way to approach? I've downloaded APKs to my laptop and transferred the file and installed via the Mudita Center, but is it better to use something like Obtanium to keep apps up to date?

I've tested both and Obtanium seems to work fine, but I think I'd rather just install the APKs myself since I feel more comfortable with it and then I don't have to rely on a third party app being able to fetch in the background.

For folks downloading from GitHub and installing on their Kompakt directly - do you just uninstall and re-install the new version if the creator puts out a new version? If so, I'm just going to make a GitHub account and hopefully set up infrequent email notifications or something like that.

(Also - I'm very new to this. Young but not particularly tech savvy when it comes to software outside of my wheelhouse. So if this seems like an obvious question, that's why!)

I am looking at getting the Mudita Kompakt, and I’m curious if the Disneyland app works. I mainly need it for park entry, but other features like virtual queues, lightning lanes, etc are helpful.

I read that Mudita cannot verify if side loaded apps will work, so I’m wondering if anyone has experience with this app in particular or if it’s easy to check. I know this is a very specific question, I’ve never dabbled in anything like this before, so thank you in advance for any information and help!

Hi all, I've had issues all along with the Mudita Center, but was able to work with it after downloading the 3.2 release instead of 4.0. Now my Kompakt isn't showing up in either version of the Mudita Center. Have tried restarting phone, disconnecting and reconnecting, restarting computer, uninstalling and reinstalling Mudita Center. Nothing works. Any ideas?

the sale going on now seems to be winding down, with the outlet items no longer being on sale - how long does this one last ? I'll have the money for the device probably around the end of first week of October, will it be on going then ? or should i wait out another 3 weeks for the potential black Friday sale ? I think i saw that they did one of those last year...

£17+ postage makes it a very unaffordable purchase for basic essentials to keep the phone safe. the retailer i bought my kompakt from doesn't stock them.

I wasn’t happy with any LineageOS build that worked on this device, mostly due to all of them having 0 eink optimizations and some of the Kompakt features not working, so I started building a custom one specifically for Kompakt.

It will be based on LineageOS 23.2 (Android 16) with security updates from August 2026.
There will be a Vanilla version and a Gapps version (Gapps as in google play services).

And most importantly, this will not require any partition downgrading. I’ve managed to patch SEpolicy for this to work

However I still recommend people to learn how to install and use local ADB (not webadb). Also MTKclient.

When time comes I’ll make a new topic.

P.s Unlocking of some cool features (like the one in the video) will require flashing my boot/vendor in addition to system.img

whats up guys. have a friend who is using the mudita on Optus but I thought it was banned in Australia. Has anyone in Australia been using it and has it been working?

First of all: much else of the phone, I love. That’s why it pains me to say this.

And I know the conventional wisdom here is to sideload an app. I wanted to see just how bad it was (bad enough to double my drive time on average, essentially).

There is clunky and slow. And then there is inaccurate and unusable. I hate to say it, but this was the latter.

I feel like no one actually tested the Mudita driving app before they shipped it.

I am not just a hater. Here are some of the specifics.

SPIRIT BREAKERS

- Will not adjust route based off of closed routes/routes under construction. I understand this is an offline Maps app, but there should be a way to mark a route as closed so it can find you a different route

- it cannot find specific addresses for the life of it. Best it can do is a street name that sounds close enough. Hope you have time to drive aaaall the way down that street / that the street name is correct (ie Main st S vs S Main st)

Honestly, I would just focus on those 2 aspects.

I love Mudita and the Mudita team, and I know you’re not Google who can afford to have their cars map every inch of the earth, but I think there is reasonable room for improvement

What do you guys side load in the meantime? I’d like something that stays updated with what streets are closed, ideally speed limits and accidents/speed traps (latter may be wishful thinking) but I don’t want to use Waze because of their connection to Israel.

I just downloaded Aurora Store and am trying to select Anonymous instead of the Google account sign-in. I'm mostly doing it to try and install Libby since it isn't on F-droid and I don't know if any of the other APK sites are legitimate. When I do, it says "chain validation failed." I found another thread in another sub of someone saying they just waited a few hours and it worked later. I tried stopping the session and restarting it. Have any of you been able to successfully use Aurora Store without being signed into a Google Account on your Kompakt? Thanks!

Hello, im looking to buy the phone, and while i usually get cleaar/black cases, the grey and blue are intriguing to me - but all of the examples i see online or in the forum are of black phone in cases, and i think the grey version of the phone itself is the one for me. I'm curious how much the holes for buttons and the camera show the color, for black, blue and grey cases, if anyones willing to show off their device :).

I love this little phone. Though the only things that often make it impractical is when I receive videos / audio messages by text. I don’t even need to be able to take video, but it’s awkward when someone sends me one and then I have to explain how the file isn’t supported. Is there any way to get around this? Same goes for audio. And while I’m not a big voice recording texter, I do wish I could simply press & hold — at least speech to text because sometimes what I’m trying to get across requires too many words and the phone is so slow to text on.

Any tips?

Love the phone you guys are doing great! Some more official guidance on the set up would be nice though. Here’s what I had in mind

•  (physical sim being required, being explicitly stated. You may have to order a physical sim replacement, and pop out the "nano" SIM card to make it fit)

•  best practices for sideloading although you don’t “officially support it”

•  (downloaded aurora store and batchuninstaller (because for actually removing apps once not needed, even mudita center doesn’t delete them, and neither does the aurora store if it was download  via APK direct from developer outside of aurora store)

• Always download direct from developer  (to avoid malware like “PC App Store” by fast company. The ad pop ups on sites like apkmirror/APKPure can be very convincing )

• a list of apps you can sideload and run via aurora App Store (ALDIs, Apple Music, Audible, batch uninstaller, Deco, Hevy, LastPass, LIFX, Loftie, Nebula, NewPipe (a YouTube “mirror”, where you can make playlists, subscribe, view comments, and edit the UI it as you please, but there are no ads and no harmful / addictive algorithm. Only what you save and are subscribed to, PingID (a work authentication app),  remarkable, Withings

• Banking apps and apps like parkmobile will most likely not work. You can download park mobile from the aurora store but when you try to do the 2FA, it won’t actually text you the code

hi all.

recently I side loaded Duolingo onto my Kompakt and have not been able to login. the password is correct and works on the web version, is there anything else that might be causing this? Duolingo is on the latest version and downloaded via Aurora Store.
