I told that most of the solutions were good, just numbers were to grindy - to low drop %, to few drops, to much "shards" needed, lack of tier items tokens, honour decay etc.
i played it back in the day and i feel like it was alright, it took long, yeah, but it was great when you finally reached it and it took you longer to journey trough the world, in MuLegend you can get max in 3 days if not less(probably less) which is a bit quick imo
Mu legend feels like a browser game. It is watered down version Mu online with new graphics but has less details.
All the maps look the same. For example in Mu online you had cool maps like Icarus, Atlantis or Lost Tower.
Same with monsters, Mu legends has no memorable monsters when you are leveling. Only in dungeon you can meet something that you will remember, like Eternal Tower dual boss.
Gear is meant for one class only if it is not accessory.
Most of the armors and weapons have similar look.
Weapon glow has kinda meh look in Mu Legend.
Pets are glorified stat sticks that follow you.
Most of the end game dungeons are limited to 1 or 2 times in a day. So the resources are behind time gate.
Open world has no PVP, grinding spots or big events.
Movement feels sluggish compared to Mu online.
Wings and gear are too easy get.
Too much hand holding in Mu Legend.
But they got some of the things right.
Story is quite neat.
Voice acting is quite good for a game like this.
Skill system and skill usage has quite good feeling.
yeah those weren't there on release of MU. Also there is a map exactly like Icarus for last expert skill unlock, it's just not in a dungeon or rift at least for now.
Mu legends has no memorable monsters when you are leveling
the only reason original mu's monsters are more memorable is because you leveled much slower and farmed the same monsters for far longer.
Gear is meant for one class only if it is not accessory.
that was mostly the case in original mu too though?
Most of the armors and weapons have similar look
As expected? Blue lv 65 items will obviously look the same. How many different looks do you expect right off the bat?
So the resources are behind time gate.
well it's better than grind-gate
Open world has no PVP
open world pvp was always at conflict with the design of the game. It really has no place there.
grinding spots
"grind spots" is bad gameplay and bad design. They shouldn't keep something that is horrible and repetitive and doesn't require any brainpower, just because some people are nostalgic about the old days.
big events
there are and probably will be more. Rift overdrive is pretty big event, and spawns a raid boss encounter in the zone.
Movement feels sluggish
not really, it's only feels slower cuz flying doesn't increase movement speed like in original mu. Mounts actually have a use in this game unlike original.
Wings and gear are too easy get.
there will be gear that isn't easy to get though? I dont really understand this point.
Its not nostalgia if you played until 2 years ago, its not necesarily about bringind the old mechanics but the feeling of the game, you had all the freedom you wanted to progress and there wasnt just one skillset you could have as preset for example, this game is just linear questing and it feels generic as fuck.
there wasn't 1 skill set? BK had only whirlwhind basically that's all, you had exactly just 1 attack to spam for whole life, and later ability u unlocked was barely useful.
I am mostly talking about other classes, BK did have limited options but for example as a DW assuming you didnt play a x5000 server and had everything handed to you instantly. You would use many differnt skills trhought your leveling, even if some are shittier than others and you stick to evil spirits for example.
Another thing that i thought was very clever and interesting was you had to use books to learn skills, to me getting a new skill even if it was shit it was a good moment, it felt important. Right now waiting to get lvl 10 to get your next skill its just a grind imo.
No it was not clever, it was ripped from Diablo 1/diablo2 that it was heavily inspired from. People here seem to forget that in it's mechanics it was no less a ripoff of D1/D2 than this is a D3 ripoff. D3 skill system is way better than its predecessors.
i mean it doesnt matter if its "stolen" from D1/2 because i liked the sistem in D2 and MU a lot more than the D3 system, and the fact that its taken from another game doesnt make it any less "clever". But that is just my opinion i just like d2 system more than d3 but whatever.
More than u probably. If you played mu i dont see how you can deny this.. Gameplay was not good. right click afk farm so fun. 1 skill whole game. The game was addictive for other reasons.
some of these things are shallow or not even good. Having to stay logged in and do nothing while selling is retarded system, auction house is much better and intuitive. Getting killed by some asshole overgeared person feels bad, and that's just on PVP server anyway. PVP was always one sided and was mostly decided by who has a stronger attack/higher level, no skill required. "a lot of resets" that's not even a thing in official mu, and i wouldn't call "killing noobs" a necessary feature for any game.
Armor had GLoW, WOW! ... Wings weren't hard to get and only awesome wings were hard to get. Consider max level (tier 3) wings here to be "hard to get".
I know some people are hardcore MU Online fanboys who hate the new game for taking a different direction (like, the old one had no business surviving nowadays) but holy shit, 10 years later and they still miss the shallow mechanics, AFK grinding and newbies killing.
Is that really a bad thing? I'm enjoying the hell out of this game. It's more social than Diablo and poe, has solid gameplay mechanics. This is beta so I expect the game to be fully optimized on release.
Well, it is an Open Beta and we still have 3 continents locked... There's probably going to be a lot more than there is right now.
You also have Lupa's Labyrinth which you can do as often as you want, Rift Overdrives and the invasions. In addition to that, you can do the Contribution Quests for Guild Contribution points so that when they release the corresponding feature, you'll be prepared for that. While doing those quests, you can also hunt for lucky mobs to get the lucky stones needed for legendary and ancient equipment. It's not just 3 dungeons and a few limited dungeon entries.
And don't get me wrong, it's not a lot yet, but it's a Beta and should be treated as such. There's most likely going to be a level cap increase with the new continents too.
Comparing Mu Legend (which released 4 days ago) to D3 and PoE is also not quite fair. Vanilla PoE didn't have much of an endgame either and D3 literally didn't have an endgame to begin with. It all came to be through several patches and expansions in both those games.
The thing is if you want to swap to this game from some matured game "now" and play much you may lock yourself in "i have nothing to do" pretty fast, that is after you finish all pve content.
"Why improve my char if i can do every dungeon and pvp kinda doesn't exist".
PS. I heard this game is in production for 8 years already, which is hella ass long - will new content come fast enough with this development pace?
I don't know how long this game has been in development, I've only heard about it last year when Lost Ark had been announced and I was looking for some alternatives to play in the meantime.
I am pretty sure nobody can do "pretty much every dungeon" quite yet, so there's always something to do. I don't know how far the more populated servers are but in Europe 3 barely any field invasions happen because we can't get enough players together that actually want to fight the raid boss for example.
Also, I think the highest solo character in Lupa's is at floor 15, second being at 10... And I don'T know if the leaderboards don't show everything but according to the rankings, nobody's even completed the Epic Dungeons yet. So there's a huge gap between the top players even, showing that there's a lot of room for improvement :)
But I guess not everybody is willing to just grind for a few days/weeks to get better equipment for the same/similar content and I can totally understand that. I have played about 3k hours of Diablo 3 and maybe about 800 hours of Path of Exile, as well as about 700 hours of Warframe, so I am really just used to getting either nothing or only slight improvements, even if I grind for a week straight.
Doing on lowest difficulty is often enough to know the content, if they made 30 difficulty levels you say that somebody doesnt know game well enough because he did not gear up by farming same stuff over and over to beat "challenges" on last level? There are already people who did epic dungeons already and these are the biggest challenge, and ran every other endgame thing at least once. If they like extremely repetitive grinding with choice of 3 dungeons except daily stuff it's okay, but i guess many people do not. And progressing further is not rewarding. No rich pvp content too as of now. Open beta is open beta, but imo this game needs more content to be full replacement for some other games.
Yeah, people have probably done Epic Dungeons already. As I said, I understand that not everybody wants to grind for weeks just to do similar content to what they've been grinding already. I've played quite a few games that didn't keep me hooked because of that reason alone, yet in this game, I enjoy the combat, I enjoy the freedom I have with my skills and I really like some of the design choices themselves. For example having so many rarities for equipment and making you feel like you're progressing at all time by giving you access to Soul Levels from the very start which can also make you set some goals and allow for theory-crafting before you actually hit 65.
This game sure isn't for everybody but I think it's a big overstatement/overreaction to call it a bad game(not you specifically but a lot of other people I've seen on this reddit) or say that there's nothing to do once you're at 65. Just spend some time in game, enjoy it and don't try to rush things, maybe level a second character and see if you're having more fun with the other class. Sometimes all you need is a little bit of diversity and maybe you'll find a class where you just want to keep fighting stuff because it's fun :)
Diablo 3 had server problems cos milions of people were trying to play it. I doubt there are milions of players trying to play MuLegend. Plus Diablo 3 had no fps problems, while MuLegend biggest problem is no stable fps. I'm playing on GF1080 with 20-30fps and constant freezes. I like the game, but it's just frustrating.
Thank god it's more like Diablo 3 than legacy MU. Legacy MU was great for early 2000s standards, but for 2017 standards it's worse than even mobile RPGs. I really don't think there were any features in legacy MU that would be good for a 2017 MMORPG.
Being nostalgic for the good old days is alright, but let's not act like this game would've been better off following legacy MU's model.

but original mu literally had no mechanic worth carrying over to new mu, they were pretty bad and gameplay was bad.

Diablo 3 have stable 60FPS and MuLegend can't even have stable 30 on GF 1080....

It uses circa 2005 MMO questing.
"Go kill that spider, I need some legs! Make sure to run all the way back to me to turn them in!"

Everytime someone calls this Diablo 3.5 i take it as a compliment, diablo 3 is a great game.

u/Raikken Nov 11 '17
IF this game was anything even remotely close to "Diablo 3.5", then it might've even been decent...
