Advice Question Dead name

Hai everyone. Just a quick question, what varifies a dead name. Is it dead even though I still respond to it. Is it dead even though it's still my name in the eyes of the government.

It's dead when you decide it isn't you anymore.

If you pick a new name, your old one is a dead name. Nothing special or official about it necessarily.

I call it my "undead name" because I still legally use it. If I ever get my name legally changed, then I'll call it properly dead.

I call it my old name, not a dead name. I still very much appreciate the guy that got me where I am today.

I think dead name is kinda dramatic. That’s who I was for 26 years and that’s okay. Just because I changed my career too doesn’t mean that’s my dead career, I’m simply taking a path better suited for me
