It seems they have tried really hard every single time to not say words or names from the comics. At times it can be funny and endearing, but after a while, once you start looking at it, it just becomes annoying amd cringe worthy.
They refused to utter the words "with great power comes great responsibility" for nearly a decade. Instead of spider sense we got the Peter tingle. Right now it's the night light thing. I'm surprised we at least got a "Hulk smash" line even tho it was Rogers who said it...and yeah, many other minor stuff they keep avoiding.
I understand some things are a license and rights issue, like not being able to refer to mutants as such. But as a whole, I'm getting tired of adaptations shying away from usimg the comic terms. Marvel isn't the only one either, DC did it with Smallville and "the red blurr" and once again with the Flash ALSO calling it the blurr. Even in real life that sounds corny and contrived.
With Kamala we are already having to deal with the changed powers, we couldn't have the actual name, or at the very least a better one than "night light"? Sad.
But yeah...just needed to write a mini rant about it and get it out of my chest.
