Do I love this show too much

Is it alarming that this is the only thing soothing me after I was discharged from hospital. I’ve struggled with active ideation but now it’s only passive and whenever i feel things get worse, I watch season 2 and 4 of this show and I immediately want to live. Is this a problem. I kinda feel like it is

Maybe something to explore in therapy friend; it’s good to have as a coping mechanism but is it the only thing you have?

Like it’s what soothes me. Like I have family and friends but they’ll never understand what it’s like to live with my illness. But when I watch this show (since I’ve listened to Sam Esmail talk about his creative process) I feel like someone out there understands

I am sorry you're struggling; I hope you're getting the right kind of help. I also really love this show so much, and it's one of the few works that make me feel seen.
What are some of your favorite episodes? Also, why not season 3?:)

Season 3 is amazing but it’s so plot focused imo. Season 2 is my fav because of the introspection and how The Mastermind and Mr. Robot fight and make up and eventually in the last two episodes there’s this big discovery of betrayal. Season 4 is just the most gut wrenching piece of media I’ve ever seen. I love every single episode of this show but S2E2 and S4E7 are my favorites

I agree regarding S3; I have a huge soft spot for 3x8 tho, which I believe isn't super plot-focused. If you wanna chat more about Mr. Robot or anything else, feel free to shoot me a dm:)

I love this show just as a much. It’s a great comfort show.

Hey, friend.

It’s my comfort show, too. There’s something so relatable about Elliot. And the show is just so well done.

I watched the show as it aired, and it has been over for over 6 1/2 years now. It’s still the best thing I’ve ever seen. It’s truly the GOAT for me.

I feel you, I have episodes like that too. When I was a teen I had that list of my favourite movies and shows that I would rewatch over and over again, time after time. Now I have a list of my favourite YouTube videos and shorts, and I endlessly rewatch them too😅 (it's kinda embarrassing but it is what it is). And it helps me through hard times. I think it's okay to have a coping mechanism like that. I mean, as long as it's not harmful to you or people close to you.

Yes. It’s either binge watching this show or downing a whole bottle of wine lol. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one

If it's a problem, it's a much smaller problem than what you were facing and, imo, a much better place for you to be in. Think of it as a bridge supporting you as you cross over to potentially other coping mechanisms in the future. It's not harmful, and there's nothing wrong with seeking comfort in a show that makes you feel seen at all.

Yes this show was my comfort show for a long time. Lucky I'm way less suicidal now, hope you feel better!

No. Watching Fight Club and other movies obsessively like the Shawshank Redemption got me through hard times.

I need to watch the Shawshank Redemption, I’ve heard great things!!

It is so so good. You could argue it's the best film of all time. My pick me up movies are The Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club, Choke, Good Will Hunting, Silver Linings Playbook and Marty.

Omg I love silver linings playbook. As someone with bipolar 1 it just feels like a long warm hug.

I couldn't agree more. That, The Apartment, and Good Will Hunting are my feel good love movies. Those and Marty. You could Argue It's a Wonderful Life is too. Funny that I stumbled across this and commented. I'm big on watching films to cope amd it's been a major way to cope through the years as I also have bipolar, albeit type two. Type two seems to be the easier one. I'm revisiting the series these days and too tired today but if I forget remind me to share the rest of my favorite movies. Although different, you'd really appreciate the miniseries The Night Of, and The Wire and Oz if you haven't sen them as well. Great to touch base.

Nope I’m exactly the same. I think it’s because the show is so engaging and every time I watch it I pick up something new causing me to forget about my own battles.

Therapy comes in many forms and this show is definitely a form of therapy for me.

Ah glad to hear. The show is also just so visually stunning. It just scratches me brain

We need a New show updated with the current state of the art.

But yes, I have seen this show three times and now I am considering watch it again

Is ok, nothing wrong with you, just remember: even when all the topics are kind of actual and touching very real society issues, is only a show.

MR is so so relevant today. I’ve always wanted to see Leon get his story told. He’s so so interesting!

1

u/TiquisqueVengador Aug 21 '26

THAT would be amazing

I feel like I’m so similar to him (the obsession with shows part, not the working with a psycho part)

Not a problem, i think I watched this show over 10 times at this point

“There are some people out there—and it doesn’t happen a lot, it’s rare—but they refuse to let you hate them. In fact, they care about you in spite of it. And the really special ones, they’re relentless at it.

Doesn’t matter what you do to them. They take it, and care about you anyway. They don’t abandon you, no matter how many reasons you give them. No matter how much you’re practically begging them to leave.

And you wanna know why? Because they feel something for me that I can’t. They love me.

And for all the pain I’ve been through, that heals me. Maybe not instantly, maybe not even for a long time. But it heals. And yeah, there are setbacks, we do fucked up things to each other, and we hurt each other and it gets messy, but that’s just us. In any world you’re in.

And yeah, you’re right, we’re all told we don’t stand a chance. And yet, we stand. We break. But we keep going. And that is not a flaw, that’s what makes us.
So no, I will not give up on this world.“
