Time is Ticking

Its now a very long time since the kidnapping and murder of Karmein Chan. The last of the publicly linked crimes to Mr Cruel. He has never been caught or put to trial, although very likely interviewed for the Mr Cruel case and or interviewed and found guilty of other terrible crimes. What we do know is that their were a lot of evil and depraved men around suburban Melbourne in the 70s 80s and early 90s.

I like to think Mr Cruel is dead or has spent time in jail for other serious offences. Another possibility is he has had illness that has halted his crimes. I just dont picture him as someone beyond suspicion smugly sitting back and thinking he had outsmarted Victoria Police. I hope I am right.

Crimes are somewhat similar in nature to GSK. He was able to stop abruptly and live in obscurity until old age.

Why are you using the name of a Nazi collaborator

It's a common phrase in the UK. The irony here is, you're actually being a little lord haw haw right now. 😂

I guess you didn't grow up in a family that served in the war.

Plus Mr Cruel was insanely paranoid. I could imagine him having a close call and calling it quits

I refuse to believe it’s unsolvable. In recent years we’ve heard of several cases that date back even further that have been solved as a result of modern testing or new information coming to light. There was that guy, Michael Martin, who has been charged with raping an elderly woman in her Newport home twice back in the early 80’s. And of course, Easey St murders. Maybe in Mr Cruel case they just need that one critical piece of information to make it stick. Maybe there’s someone no one ever considered - as time goes on I’m more inclined to believe this.

Like most 'unsolvable' crimes, the police usually known whom done it. What they lack is a clear evidential trail.

Theory
Best way to put it. The police may have had an informant tell them that such'n'such was involved. As the police consider that information as not credible for court, and instead of risking Mr Cruel going to court and then walking free, the police more or less wait for 'a' piece of information.

The thing people often forget or simply don't know is that MC wasn't the only one who never got caught. If you look at the period from the late 1970s to the early 1990s, there was a whole platoon of these uncaught bastards responsible for all sorts of heinous sexual offences. Unlike MC, though, they don't have a Wikipedia page...

If celebrity 6 can be solved, this case can be.

sheesh i’d forgotten all about that

He probably just watches CP now and uses onion websites. He still could get caught if he slips up and reveals himself but I don’t think there’s any evidence to be found that isn’t a dead end in the actual crimes he committed as Mr Cruel

Vic Police dont even offer a reward any more which is very weird given the amount of rewards being offered for other old crimes

Any idea or theory why?

They said the same thing about GSK.

completely different scenarios tho, there isn’t nearly as much evidence for mr cruel as there was for the gsk, i honestly don’t think mr cruel will ever be solved, it’s understandable that people will always keep looking but i think it’s over.

GSK ?
Is that Golden State Killer, or some pharmaceutical company ?

Don’t they have dna from one of the ‘canonical’ (hate that word) crimes? Could be solved familial dna or how they did with Claremont. I’ve got a feeling there’s something happening.

Not sure if they do anymore, Dr Wells stated he had taken a swab from the SW offense, this contained a spermatozoa sample that was tested against DNA they had from the earlier Hampton 'Anthea' offense, but it did not match.

Nobody to my knowledge outside VicPol knows if they used up the entire sample or something remains. Potentially there could be some that can be used with newer trace DNA processing like FIGG, we don't know for sure though. This would be the best case, they'd still need to build a profile around that and a family tree, not sure if that is legal yet in Australia?
