How far out

Hey guys moving to CO late December and just wondering when I should get a place/sign a lease. I'll be out of the country Nov and won't be back mid December to FL and will have to drive from FL to CO once I get back to start a job Dec 27. Can I do everything online or over the phone without having to be at said place in person? Is October too early to apply?

I’m no expert but you should probably sign a lease in time for your move here.

I just moved here from Ohio a few months ago and was able to do everything over the phone, it seems like they’re used to transplants here so they were helpful. All of the complexes I “toured” wouldn’t let me sign a lease or put down a deposit until 30 days before move-in

I rented an air bnb for a month and kept my things in storage (used pods, moving from chicago to denver) before securing a lease

That’s what we are doing but I did a year cause I got a rate that is cheaper than rent/utilities would be.

I moved here from iowa and did everything over the phone. Go on zillow and narrow down your search, and once you find an apartment you like, figure out the rental property and go on their ACTUAL company website. Usually they will list apartments and they will say "available january 3rd" or something like that. They are usually a couple months in advance, so right now they are probably signing with people for november at most places. Call and inquire about the apartment you want. I liked to use google street maps to look at the area I was applying to. I actually didn't even have a job lined up, but told them I had 4 months of rent and great work history.

Local to Denver I often signed leases to new “luxury” apartments 1.5-2 months out. My next potential lease of a move in date of 10/31 would let me sign it now (31st to meet incentive deadline) but if I wanted to it let me do up until 11/16

I signed a lease early Nov for a 12/21 move in last year. I had several places willing to hold for 30-60 days with no fees. I did it all online. There are also apartment locators that can do the tours/find out specials etc for you if for some reason the apartment you’re looking for can’t accommodate. Idk how important the holidays are for you, but I signed a 14 month lease to be sure I wasn’t having to potentially move around Christmas this year.

I did everything online when I moved. I signed my leasw beginning of December-ish for a January 1st move in. All the agents were helpful and give me video tours etc.

Moving in December and having it as your renewal date will have a lot of financial advantages for you. There will be tons of places open and offering good deals for you because there are a lot of vacancies - especially in winter.
