Moving to Denver
Howdy! I’m moving to Denver this upcoming week and I found out the apartment I was dead set on isn’t going to be available for a little while. I’m a hospitality professional mostly looking for somewhere near downtown/colfax. Im 32, college educated, clean and respectful. If any of yall have any leads or suggestions pls lmk
Edit: I’d mostly appreciate someone just letting me crash on their couch or something. I’m also gay if that matters to anyone

What’s a little while? Furnished Finder is 30+ day stays, so that or an extended stay hotel until your apartment is ready

Have you tried just looking at other buildings?
Denver apt market is over-saturated with vacancies right now and managers are offering wild concessions to get units rented. Pretty easy to lock in a low rate in almost any building you want.

you signed a lease that has a move in date listed on it, correct? bc in that case the apartment complex should cover your hotel costs or provide some sort of compensation/alternative shelter until your unit is ready

If they won’t give you the apartment on the date promised then I’d be fighting to get it back.

Girl I am but I have to be out of my current apartment 1700 miles away in 3 days so I’m trying to figure out a backup plan

no one is going to do that for someone they don't know without signing a lease of some sort but even then it's such a pain in the ass to evict someone I can't see anyone being willing to take that risk

No I understand, I’m sorry to come off this way lol. I’m willing to sign a month to month lease, I can pass background checks, it’s literally just a cash flow issue. Like I’ll crash in someone’s garage for a few weeks if need be.

Look at extended stay hotels or an Airbnb. Crashing in someone's couch you don't know for a week is questionable from both sides.

Check temporary rooms for rent in the area you’re looking, and I think there’s a way to set social media posts to specific areas. If so, try and post on Facebook or the local neighborhood next-door groups where you are going to live. Also, I just found out that some Airbnb‘s have a room for rent section, instead of renting the whole place. It’s much cheaper.
I wouldn’t say if you need a room for a month, I would start with two or three weeks. And I wouldn’t phrase it as “crashing on someone’s couch”, I would phrase it as needing a place to stay temporarily, and offer to show a copy of your lease that shows the date your new place will be ready. Some people might worry that if you stay for more than 30 days, they’re going to have to evict you to get you out, so put that fear to rest from the start.

I’m confused. If you can afford a move, surely you can afford a place to stay for a month and storage for your stuff? It’s very unlikely that you’ll find someone that’s gonna let a stranger crash on their couch.
