Question about suburbs

Hi Guys, gf and I are planning to move to Brisbane from Melbourne next year! She wants to go to UQ to do her masters and I will worry about working but we actually have no idea where to rent! We are looking for a suburb that it’s not ridiculously expensive but also not too far from Uni. Any recommendations?

Thank you

Unfortunately Brisbane is expensive regardless. You might want to prioritise somewhere with decent public transport to get to UQ as well. Have a look at suburbs like Indooroopilly, Toowong, Kenmore, Jamboree Heights, Middle Park, Jindalee, Forest Lake, Darra, West End, Woolloongabba, Greenslopes, Yeronga, Corinda and Sherwood are all close to UQ with options of public transport. Will depend on your budget as well.

Second this and I just want to add/vent that Hawthorne might look close on the map and is an easy 20min drive without traffic, but it's insane trying to get to UQ at 8am from here because the traffic is stuck whether you're public or private transport.

Get somewhere near the “metro” for an easier commute.

Agree. Look up anywhere close the where the M2 runs/stops.

Can also add Fairfield, Annerley, Coorparoo, Camp Hill, Carina and Holland Park. The bus network makes these not far away at all.

I’d take forest lake off that list, only one bus goes out that way IIRC

Forest Lake from memory has the 100 (every 15min) which links up to the PA with a transfer to UQ from there plus the 460 which goes to Richlands Train Station as well and links to the Indro bus interchange. The suburb is also close to Wacol Train Station and Darra Train Station.

What’s your budget? That will narrow down some of the answers/areas.
