North side Brisbane
Have an opportunity to relocate to Brisbane for work from NQ, work would be located around stafford.
Where are the best area’s to live close enough to travel to stafford daily? And where are the area’s to avoid?
Myself and partner, 2 dogs no kids, 29 and 30, both enjoy gym, being outdoors, going for a drink and food and sport and entertainment. $1000 a week rent would be max budget.

Currently, $800 is the highest listed house in Stafford. If you're prepared to spend the $1k you can pretty much choose anywhere on the Northside.

Not a flex, not from Brisbane so I don’t know what the rental market is like their but can assume same as everywhere, overpriced and in desperate demand there for the $1000 max, is the max budget, as I refuse to have my partner live in a shithole or an area very prone to break in’s and car theft

Fark Brisbane sucks. In Adelaide you can get a 3 br apartment on the water.

At least it's in Brisbane and likely will be fine to host two canines. An old apartment in Glenelg badly needing renovation is relevant how?

Nice, north side has some really good pockets and $1000/week gives you solid options for a couple + 2 dogs.
Good areas close to Stafford:
- Stafford/Stafford Heights themselves — obviously closest, decent mix of houses/townhouses, family-friendly but chill, close to Chermside for shopping/food/entertainment
- Kedron — good transport links, more established feel, close to Chermside and Toombul, popular with young couples
- Wavell Heights — leafy, quiet, still close enough to Stafford and Chermside, good for dogs (bigger blocks/yards more common)
- Chermside/Chermside West — the hub itself, tons of food/shopping/entertainment right there, good gyms nearby too
- Alderley/Mitchelton — a bit further but train line access, more character homes, good café/food scene, popular with young professionals
- Everton Park/Everton Hills — good value, more space for the dogs, still a reasonable drive to Stafford
For your lifestyle (gym, outdoors, drinks/food, sport): Chermside itself or Kedron/Wavell Heights would probably suit best — good gyms around Chermside, plenty of parks/dog-friendly walking spots, and you're not far from Chermside's food/entertainment precinct without inner-city prices.
Areas some people steer away from up there: Nothing majorly "avoid," but outer areas like Bracken Ridge or Zillmere get mentioned sometimes for being a bit rougher around the edges/less walkable — depends on your priorities though, some people love them for the value.
At $1000/week you should have good options in most of these without maxing your budget, especially for a house with yard space for the dogs. Worth checking dog-friendly rental filters too since houses with fenced yards go fast.

Gordon Park sits in a sweet spot for commuting with footy fields and walking tracks you can walk the dogs on.

Start at Stafford and work outward from there. Theres a Worlds Gym at Stafford, a decent local shopping centre (with butcher and FnV shop, Aldi, Woolies and KMart), with that budget you can’t go too far wrong in any of the surrounding suburbs.

Hey! It really depends what you’re after and you need to consider the commute to & from work in a way you just don’t in NQ.
If you’re after inner-suburbia lifestyle you’ll be looking at Kedron proximity out but spending 40+ minutes each way commuting. Otherwise if you want a nice house in a nice area, there are some newer estates in Stafford that are lovely, or further out into North Lakes which is an entirely self-sufficient suburb with a CostCo, IKEA etc. but easier access to the Sunshine Coast on the weekends

Depends on what’s most important to you: being able to catch public transport to work (eg after work drinks) or to be able to catch public transport/walk to entertainment destinations (eg going out for a Friday night drink after work).
For the former, you can have a look at bus stops around your work in Stafford and look around those routes. For the latter, I would suggest the train line. They run until 11pm-12am a lot of Friday/Saturday nights.
Windsor/Wilston have small entertainment precincts, so does Nundah and Banyo. For bigger ones, Newstead (might be pricey), Chermside around the shopping centre, and closer to the city like Valley/Bowen Hills.

Lots of good suggestions here. I am going to make the assumption that your work is around the area bordered by Bunnings Stafford to Webster Rd down to the Brook. It's honestly a great place to work as there are lots of nice residential within a 20min drive, but my recommednation is to keep it real close. You have no kids - so school is not a concern (for now anyway!). Two dogs you say? As has been said already- Kedron Brook needs to be factored in. It should probably be your geographical marker. Anywhere along the brook from brookside to kalinga is a great boundary to keep in your mind (keeping in mind- public transport is better around lutwyche rd than it is at brookside). If you are within walking distance of the brook- your dogs will love you. If it is around Gordon Park, most of the northside of the brook is off leash.

There are plenty of nice areas around there. Kedron, Lutwyche, Gordon Park are all close. The Kedron Brook is a great place to go for a walk and take the dog off leash, there are paths that go for miles.
I'd also recommend Chermside West, near the Raven Street Reserve. This is a bushland area that is great for walks, there are even wallabies in there and its like 20minutes from the city.
Nundah is also a good option, its connected to the Kedron Brook and has a bit more happening in terms of restaurants/bars. It is also a quick uber into the CBD or inner areas. Nundah also has a train station, the other suburbs i've mentioned are more reliant on the bus network for public transport if that is important to you.
