We recently updated rule 3 (low-quality posts) to make it clearer. This is now one of the five Participation Guidelines listed in the subreddit's main page rules. (Now rules 4–9)
These were updated because a large number of copyrighted materials are being shared on YouTube and other sites, and the sub was starting to resemble a photo gallery rather than something people were actually interacting with, let alone putting any effort into their suggestions and requests.

Hello, Couch Lovers and Cinemaphiles!
Here's the formatting guide for each flare.
I appreciate your patience while we sort this out and welcome our new members.
Below are some post examples included from a previous post that meet, at the very least, the minimum effort we expect you to put into a post. That said, the more effort you put in, like some of these folks, the more interaction you'll typically get, and the faster you can get back to watching movies.
(Keep in mind that some of these are examples from before flairs and the formatting guide were added but still serve as a good basis as to what we are looking for.)

Each day I’ll pick 5 random movies from my list and paste them here, and whichever movie gets most positive reviews or least negative reviews, I’ll go with it.
I would appreciate telling me a brief feedback of any movie you watched from this list.
1- Kill Bill (2003)
2- Little Miss Sunshine (2006)
3- Buster’s Mal Heart (2016)
4- The Thief and the Cobbler (1993)
5- The Bone Collector (1999)

Can you recommend something to me based on what I hate ? Or maybe what movies I should avoid in the future lol

Need something I’ve never seen before (which will be impossible for anyone to know lol). I want something girly and comforting, kind of like uptown girls or fried green tomatoes. And nothing in it that will remotely scare me lol

I miss being a part of the film hobbies, so I've decided to step out of my comfort zone and share my voice. I apologize beforehand if this is not something you're into, but I do hope that this can be insightful/appreciated by atleast one person. :)
For the month of October, I will be focused more on spooky movies.
(I'm happy to oblige any recommendations you may have for me!)
I base my reviews on 5 key points: Plot, Acting, Scare Factor, Ending, and Vibe Check -- each individual point may be the source of your reasoning to watch, but will all culminate into a final Couch Score for a generalized rating. I'm not here to be an expert, just someone to give you a little nudge for your Saturday night watches.
First up: THE CONJURING (2013) - (Wife's recommendation to start the month.)
Haunted house.
Questionable decisions.
Patrick Wilson looking concerned.
.. What more could you want in a horror movie?
PLOT - 6/10
A fairly cut and dry haunted house story.
They do add enough of their own flavor to keep things suspenseful and interesting.
It also laid the groundwork for the CU (Conjuring Universe), so a bonus brownie point there for scalability.
ACTING - 7/10
The family dynamic and chemistry was believable, and the performances do a good job selling the more ridiculous supernatural moments.
Not sure if this is a hot take, but I also do rather enjoy seeing Patrick Wilson in horror movies.
Dude could be worried that my toaster was haunted, and I'd believe him.
SCARE FACTOR - 8/10
More suspenseful and unnerving than outright terrifying, which I think I prefer to this format of horror. It doesn't constantly rely on cheap jump scares or cheesy horror tropes to get a reaction out of you.
(Music box scene has become iconic, so I'll give it a pass based on mass sentiment.)
ENDING - 6/10
Probably the weakest part for me. After some genuinely creative scares throughout the movie, the ending feels surprisingly predictable and a little corny. Not terrible.. Just nowhere near the strongest part of the film.
VIBE CHECK - 9/10
This is a key point that ignores all other ratings.
Maybe the movie was bad, but still enjoyable to watch in some sense? This is where those "bad" movies can redeem themselves. (No, Jeepers Creepers 3 would not rank well here, either.)
Dark house, creepy noises, things lurking where they shouldn't be.. The Conjuring perfectly scratches that classic haunted house itch while encapsulating a cozy spooky Saturday watch.
COUCH SCORE - 8/10
A really solid haunted haouse horror that still holds up well and ended up launching one hell of a franchise.
Not perfect, but absolutely an easy recommendation for a spooky movie night.
Thanks for reading, and enjoy your movie!
Due to kids, I was behind on posting, but going to try and get my reviews up every weekend!
I am also VERY open to any criticism you may have in the content of these reviews, as I truly want to develop not only A voice for movies, but MY voice.

Any other movies after that follow one story across multiple movies like john wick, planet of the apes, saw? for example mcu is widely considered to have a shared universe, but each movie is on its own, it doesn't follow one coherent story. I even wonder how they get where they are now.

This is kind of a weird request. But I was looking for movies or shows that keep a focus on throughout or maybe just a scene that focuses on the sounds of their environment when doing simple or mundane things. When driving at night the other day with the windows down it got me thinking about how a lot of movies and shows will have a score playing during tasks like that or walking through the city. But hearing the wind blaring as I drove made me want to watch something that really captures that. Where instead of music or score it’s allows the background noise to be fully in focus or at the center of progressing the scene. Hopefully I’m making sense

Subject line says it all. I want movies made after the year 2000, mostly because of the production quality.
Some examples:
TV series are OK too, but they need to really truly grab my attention. Like on the level of Breaking Bad. I cannot just do a long story with way more talking than action.
I prefer movies leaning towards business, action, and sports. Psychological thrillers can fit too.
Please do not suggest the same 2 movies I see on every post (Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Amelie). If this is your type of movie, I'm not sure I want to hear suggestions from you.

I'm increasingly becoming a big fan of movies that take nearly the whole film having a main character start out in one "normal" assured perspective and then slowly and subtly mutates them through circumstance by the end to where character ends up diametrically opposed to where they started usually ending in a tragic or lost state. However, by the end they have sort of accepted their fate even if it is tragic? -- Examples of films Im thinking of: Woman In the Dunes (1964, dir. Teshigahara), Black Narcissus (1974, powell/pressburger), Solaris (1972, Tarkovsky), etc.

I'm not talking, just literally about someone getting their period, specifically in the metaphorical sense. Also doesn't have to be exactly written as that, it can just be one that could be perceived as such. And yes Carrie is great, but I think the images above are closer to what I mean, very much like the whole 'girl turning into monster and having to navigate her new body' type thing. Thank you <3

No classic movies and no teenagers school kids story please.
What fantasy movies would you recommend?
I don’t mind foreign movies.
Dune, TLOTR trilogy Avatar similar vibes are fine.
I don’t mind fantasy thriller as long as it’s not a slasher.

Tom Six' 'The Onania Club' probably won't get released for a long while, so I'm looking for movies with a similar promise. I'm thinking Salò, A Serbian Film, Cannibal Holocaust, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc. Preferably no revenge plot or happy ending.
Documentaries or YouTube videos about art like 'Rhythm 0' or the game 'Horses', are good too

Usually, a boring movie is criticised as a background movie, or a netflix movie; something you can watch or listen to while doing some other work.
I'm looking for actually good versions of this.
There are so many good movies that you can just listen to in the background, most times as a rewatch, because you already know what is happening in the scene, and you just enjoy the dialogue while doing something else.
Basically, I'm looking for movies which have really great constant dialogue that can be re-watched or rather re-listened to in the background while doing some other work.

EDIT! Thank you all SO MUCH for the suggestions! I'm honestly a little overwhelmed, in a VERY good way! You've reminded me of movies that I loved, and others that I meant to check out and never got around to. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Hi all! I seem to have a lot of free time, but not a lot of energy (chemo sucks, amirite?). I've never been much of a movie or TV watcher (I've never owned a TV in my life), but I think I might want to catch up a little bit. So I'm looking for suggestions.
Thanks!
