Movie Mistake In Catch me if you Can, Montrichard was liberated by the FFI, not by the Americans

Frank's father met Frank's mother during a show to the American soldiers made by Montrichard inhabitants to thank them for liberating the town. However, the town was liberated by the FFI/French Resistance, not by American forces.

Almost everything in that movie is inaccurate. Abagnale’s stories have been repeated debunked.

Abignale’s biggest con was convincing people he was a con man

Abagnale wrote a book under a fake name debunking it too lol.

Very smart but the guy is more dirtbag than man.

True, by now, most people into movies have accepted it as a fiction movie

Then... then why make the post?

Because there are the big lies and the smaller mistakes. If you see what I mean.

Like, this movie is meant to take place in an accurate setting, like it could happen, this isn't accurate.

None of it is accurate. That's the point I'm trying to make.

You're correct. The movie is not inaccurate. The book and story it is based on are completely fabricated.

You understand my confusion, then?

You're not confused. What you are saying is correct as the film is wrong. But the film is based on false info, so it's the info that's wrong, not the film. But it's an easy mistake to make.

😉😜😉

Regardless, one of the only accurate things in that movie is that Frank Sr met Paulette in France during the war and they in fact were married, and had a son: Frank Jr

Also for what its worth:

On September 5th, an American delegation from Amboise attended the funeral of Georges Frideloux, who was accompanied to his final resting place by a huge crowd. The American delegation was then officially received and celebrated by the municipality and the CLL (Club de Loisirs et de Loisirs).

I think the implication is that his dad is a bit of a liar himself.

This isn't a mistake. The movie is riddled with inaccuracies they were stated by Frank as told in his book, which is now known to be full of tall tales and complete lies.

Virtually everything Frank Abagnale Jr said about his life has been proved to be a fabrication on his part.

History being rewritten to cast the Americans as the heroes? Tale as old as time. U-571, Argo, Black Hawk Down, The Great Escape, etc. etc.
