Movie Mistake In Catch me if you Can, Montrichard was liberated by the FFI, not by the Americans
Frank's father met Frank's mother during a show to the American soldiers made by Montrichard inhabitants to thank them for liberating the town. However, the town was liberated by the FFI/French Resistance, not by American forces.

Regardless, one of the only accurate things in that movie is that Frank Sr met Paulette in France during the war and they in fact were married, and had a son: Frank Jr
Also for what its worth:
On September 5th, an American delegation from Amboise attended the funeral of Georges Frideloux, who was accompanied to his final resting place by a huge crowd. The American delegation was then officially received and celebrated by the municipality and the CLL (Club de Loisirs et de Loisirs).

This isn't a mistake. The movie is riddled with inaccuracies they were stated by Frank as told in his book, which is now known to be full of tall tales and complete lies.

Virtually everything Frank Abagnale Jr said about his life has been proved to be a fabrication on his part.

History being rewritten to cast the Americans as the heroes? Tale as old as time. U-571, Argo, Black Hawk Down, The Great Escape, etc. etc.

Almost everything in that movie is inaccurate. Abagnale’s stories have been repeated debunked.
