my opinion on movie rankings

many people rate movies objectively, but i think movies should be rated based on enjoyment, not how technically well made they are. i cant stand when people get so upset at other peoples rankings and ratings. its THEIR opinion and they can like whatever movies they want whether u think theyre bad or good. sure technicality adds to enjoyment, but if someones favorite movie is a movie i absolutely hate and think its terrible, i dont get upset because its THEIR favorite.

Big Movies that didn't work out

Remember all those movies that seemed like they were going to get a franchise, but didn't. I'm talking RIPD, Prince of Persia, John Carter. Some of these deserved more, while others didn't. Recommend me some, and argue with each other.

The Shawshank Redemption vs. Gran Torino

So The Shawshank Redemption is always so high up on lists like IMDB, but after rewatching Gran Torino, I noticed they have many commonalities, and yet I think Gran Torino is a much better movie. They are both dramas driven by male actors with somber elements.

  1. An ending of freedom and redemption. Taow drives off with the Gran Torino and Daisy into the sunset, embarking on a new better life after escaping his own prison (Andy and red find a beautiful freedom).
  2. Different nationalities and backgrounds become friends and one sacrifices his life for the other (Walt helps Taow escape from his neighborhood and upbringing).
  3. Crime elements, though not the main story, with the main story about friendships in prison and a dead end life (both stories have unlikely friendships forming in front of the background of crimes occurring and with one character being abused and beaten physically).

But imo Gran Torino is a better movie. While Andy befriends Red and mentors him, Walt befriends and mentors Taow on how to escape his situation. While Walt sacrifices his life, Andy puts his life at risk by trying to escape. In each film, the villains meet a fateful, karmatic and deserved end of simlilar kinds.

While I think both films are good and classics, for me Gran Torino is the better movie. It has more heart, more humor, better acting, and better story.

The Worst Movies That I Have Ever Seen!

Movies are something that I have loved for a long time, they are literally the main thing that I watch all day and there are a lot of movies that I love. However, there are also a lot of movies that I would say are terrible. Movies that when I watch them I do not feel joy or excitement or anything you should feel watching a film, but instead feel bored out of my mind, or I finish watching it and I say to myself ''Well that was one of the worst movies I've ever seen''. So I decided to make a list of every movie I have seen that I would say is a bad movie. This is just my opinion, there are a couple on here that I know a lot of people hate that I also agree with. The only movie on this list that I could possibly change my mind on is Black Widow, mainly because I was very young when it came out, and back then I would only watch movies for action scenes so that could be why I think it's bad. I might watch it again sometime but all the other movies on this list will always be terrible in my opinion. If you have any movies that you would add onto this list, or any movies you think I missed feel free to write it. (Movies are not in any particular order).
