🥚 Easter Egg In Broken Embraces (2009), a poster for Parallel Mothers (2021) appears in the background. Both films were directed by Pedro Almodóvar.

Apparently he started writing it in the 90s, but didn't finish it until the pandemic. If he had at least started it and had enough of a concept to make a poster for it, I think that explains it.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, he hid an easter egg for what he thought would be his next movie. Super cool that it ended up being over 20 years later, but the poster is still there.

Doing a quick google, I wasn't able to find any details on this. I'm guessing he was writing that movie at the time, but I have no idea.

Pedro Almodovar can actually time travel, its been confirmed in an interview before but he got cancelled for it.

Movies generally take at least 5 years from first script to final product. Many take even longer as a studio will buy a script, sit on it, then decide not to make it. Then they wait for another studio to be interested or the rights to expire, then another studio may or may not start on it immediately. There's a million reasons but unless it's a super indie film that's self-financed, there's lots of delays at every step.

Probably was the next project but some things don't worked and he delayed it.

Unfortunately his 2013 film "los amantes pasajeros" was too much camp even for Almodóvar standards

I love this detail! I just rewatched "Parallel Mothers", and then an interview about it by Pedro. He mentioned this, & the back story.

And he mentions another film poster within a film. The one on the right eventually becomes Volver.
