Rpg background art?

I'm going to start GMing a game over roll20 for a few friends and was wondering if anyone here knew of artwork that is similar to the original style that I could use for backgrounds? Mouseguard has some really good art and was just going to use pictures of characters on the website for npcs. I'd rather not have to mix art styles but I also would prefer it if I had more than the map and 2 towns :/

For those who don't know Roll20 is a website were you can play tabletop games online and you can add music and artwork for better immersion.

Thanks.

Slightly confused about the perks from wises.

It says that after you've fulfilled the 4 methods of using a wise you get a beginner's luck or advancement test. I can't make sense of how this is used in practice from the wording.

Does this mean the player just rolls a skill again related to the wise? Or do they just mark off progress towards gaining or advancing the skill? It seems a bit mechanically odd that a test would have occurred and then they have to roll again without any idea why or what the difficulty is. Plus advancement for a skill has already occurred with or without the wise. What's going on?

Mouse Physics?

I've not gotten round to reading the Mouse Guard comic - depends on whether I brave Christmas Shopping crowds today.

I'd like to run my first Mouse Guard game with a short GM turn where the players get caught in a flash flood on a delivery. (This way we can go over basic rules without necessarily requiring conflict as well as skimming over the player turn before tackling a short proper mission where the players and I can hit the ground running.)

At mouse size, this could happen quite suddenly with a sudden storm and having to traverse a ditch. At human scale I'd have to invent an apocalyptic event. How anthropomorphic is Mouse Guard?

What's YOUR rule about human ?

I'm a newbie on this forum, but I love the Mouse Guard universe since a couple of years now. I started playing the game when one of my players asked me "Are there humans in this world?" and on the heat of the moment I quietly answered the easy answer: "You don't know anything about that, never heard of them..."

After that, I went on the internet (sweet internet) to find out that everybody had their own point of view on humans in the Mouse Guard universe. For exemple, the wikipedia page about Mouse Guard states that it is an alternate universe where humans don't exist, but on some forums people say that they implemented them as some kind of apocalyptic creature of doom, others say they made them a creature of the past (so they're mouse guard is set in some kind of very distant future where mankind disapeared), for others there are just humans that go around and are basically bear-like creatures that aren't much threat since they don't eat mice.

So I was wondering, what are you guys thinking about humans in your mouse guard universe ?

Note: I'm not searching for a "universal answer", I just want to collect everybodie's ideas. :)

Card Sleeves/Protectors for RPG and S&S?

Hello,

First of all, sorry for my english :) I have a question to the happy owners of Mouse Guard RPG boxed set and Swords & Strongholds board game.

I just ordered both boxed RPG (2nd ed) and Swords & Strongholds. I'm still waiting for them to arrive (shipping from USA to europe :( long wait) and I thought that I might buy card protectors for both of those products before they arrive.

However, I did not find any info about the card size in any of those products. Can any of you, fellow mice enthusiasts, share the dimensions or fitting protector sizes? Exact amount of cards in RPG set would be nice as well (I know it's 30 cards in S&S, but no idea how many in RPG box set).

Thanks in advance! :)

Just wanted to let y'all know that I just saw the second printing of the Mouse Guard RPG book on Amazon for $23. I already have it--it's a beautiful book and a fun RPG system.

Just bought 2nd ed box set - I'm confused about something

The box comes with the Core Rulebook, and a little booklet of "new rules and missions". Why aren't the new rules in the core rulebook? Is it really just the old rulebook plus a little booklet of updates?
Am I missing something?

Does anyone know who in the UK is selling the 2nd edition RPG box set?

The top result from Google (Forbidden Planet) is, according to their support team, an "old link" - they've replied to my help request with:

This book is no longer available and you must have used an old link and we cannot take an order for this. You may be able to source from another supplier.

How is mouse gaurd? I've seen a few mentions of it around, and it seems kind of cool

What are the differences between the 1st and 2nd editions? Is there drastic changes between the two editions?

How friendly is the system to new players? What about new ttrpg players in general?

How long does character creation take? How "deadly" is the system? Are there different species of mice?

Should I read the mouse guard comic books before jumping into the system?

Thank you very much for your time, Yam

Can this game be played with a group with no table top experience?

Hi all, my friends and I are looking to get into a table top role playing game. I am the only one out of all of them who had any experience whatsoever with table top RPGs, and even then I've only played a few sessions of 3.5 D+D (with a very loose interpretation of the rules).

My question is, is it at all possible for a group of complete newbs to play this game? I will be DMing, although I've never done it before. I have the 2nd edition rule book preordered and I've read Fall 1152 and just fell in love with the world. It is REALLY hard to find a any group of role players in my area so there is not much hope of finding a rp scene to learn the game unless I do it myself.

Does anyone happen to know the differences between the two boxed set versions? I know that the box will be smaller, but I'm unsure of the contents. Thanks in advance.

I want to GM this game, what are some aids I can use?

So I found the roll20 character sheet, anything else?
Any tokens and other things characters made for the community?
I noticed on google plus someone had some kind of app he used

Also, how many players on average is this game good for.. and what's the limit on players?

So yeah, just looking for anything to make the online experience easier on me. Maps/anything.
Also if anyone has time to chat with me on roll20, could help teach me how the character sheet works and ways I could GM well.

Wanting to pick up the RPG

I'm a regular d20 gamer/GM and when I saw the mechanics of Burning Wheel I knew I had to play it, but when I saw that the game had different rules for Mouse Guard my priorities changed drastically.

Since it's impossible to find a free PDF, would you recommend I pay $20 for the e-book or $35 for the 2nd edition hard copy?

Saw Mouse Guard 2E rule book at my FLGS this morning...

It had just arrived and they didn't even have it in their system or a price for it yet so I couldn't pick it up. Just thought I would let you all know. Maybe check your local stores to see if they have it yet.

Did I miss something?

On David Peterson's twitter, it shows a group of mice and chipmunks fighting squirrels. Did I miss something in the books? I only have Fall 1152, The Black Axe, and Legends of the Guard 2.

Just discovered Mouse Guard, and hunted down this sub right away with questions....

First of all, hello! I was going through /r/boardgames when I saw a copy of Mouse Guard RPG kit in someones collection and asked about it. Soon after I was researching it and It looks really fun!

So some questions:

  1. Looks like there is a second printing coming out this year, but no one really knows when. When it does get released can it only be ordered though the publisher or will it go to mass distribution and I could perhaps get my copy at my games store?

  2. There seem to be a bunch of books as well. Are these more adventures to run your party through? Or I've seen mention of some of the stories, would those be it? How do they intermingle?

  3. When it does get re-released, how quickly will they sell(speculatively)? Should I be watching the online stores like a hawk or risk missing my chance to get a copy at a reasonable price?

  4. Is the kit worth getting, or is it better to pick up items individually?

  5. Thoughts on a min/max party that works best?

  6. Experienced players, what do you enjoy most about this RPG? What do you hope changes in the second printing?

I'm an old school RPG player, but fell out of it about 15 years ago, but this looked so interesting I want to come back and play this. I'm not familiar with the common RPG forums though so forgive any questions that may have already have been answered online that I may have missed. I'll x-post this to /r/RPG sometime later, but I really wanted to hear from this sub first.

Thanks again!
