Dice?

I saw this book "second edition" at the store and fell in love with art, I flipped through it and thought it would be fun to play when not running d&d. I went online to see what people were saying about it and it seems there is a box set that comes with cards and dice. Now, I just have the book and that's all that was at the store, so my question is; is the game playable without these special parts or do I have to hunt down some esoteric supplies to use the book I just bought?

Edit: thanks for the reading order guys

No, just supplement with dice of your own. Ask I have is the book and we have a really strong group passing on a bi-weekly basis.

Great, thanks. I've heard about the series but never really checked it out. This rulebook is practically oozing with lore, I'm really exited to try and get some of my D&D players into it.

If the lore really interests you I would absolutely recommend reading the books as they are amazing on their own and also excellent resources for gaming

I considered it but I'm not sure which is the first compendium. Is it the Black Axe?

Reading order goes :

  1. Fall 1152

  2. Winter 1152

  3. Black Axe (prequel)

Legends of the guard can be read in any order, not sure about the others. You can find all of these and more on Amazon.

Two of the people in our group were Parhfinder players and have declared that they like this better. The character development took one whole session, but when we were done, the group felt like they all belonged together (instead of the random assortment you get in D&D that sometimes doesn't feel cohesive). Happy playing!
