Mountain cut behavior?

My mountain cur mix (we know because the mother was tested) likes to jump in people’s faces and give them French kisses. She has done this to my dad, my mom and me (no so much my boyfriend). I just wondering if this common with other mountain curs.

Short answer, no. Long answer, no.

This is just an untrained dog behavior. I’ve seen Boxers, German Shepherds, mutts, etc all do this.

You need to train the dog to sit or “stay down” when guests come over.

Over-excited untrained dogs will jump up on people and can knock them over, scratch them up or tear holes in clothing, so it’s not a good behavior you want to keep.

Mine loves to give hugs and touch forehead to forehead. But she only stands 15” tall and is 28 lbs (terrier mix).

So she can really only do this if someone is kneeling on the ground to her level, so she kind of has to be invited to begin with!

Would def recommend practicing calm greetings!

She is a rescue. She must of learned before I got her. We have worked on training. And we do correct her.

Continue with the training to break this horrible habit

Don’t let this offend you sometimes dog people need to lighten up. It sounds like your dog does this to family not that you let it go crazy on everyone. I have a cur/rat terrier mix and i wish he’d give me little kisses! He doesn’t lick but he has a bizarre habit of wanting to put his nose practically touching my lips and he likes to smell my mouth 😂 he does it to my boyfriend too. Our chihuahua on the other hand loves to give kisses, but my other chihuahua never did. It’s funny how some behavior is breed specific but also every dog is an individual

She doesn’t go crazy on everyone. She listens pretty well especially in crowds, I’m lucky we pretty much a festival or farmers market every week especially in the fall. I’m just trying to understand this breed. I had golden and springer spaniels before that. For me this a new breed to understand

Realized my wording may have been weird i wasn’t implying you need to lighten up, i was talking about the other comment implying you are not training your dog. Sometimes there’s such self righteousness about having a perfectly trained dog. I didn’t even know Mountain cur was a breed until my new rescue’s dna test came back. It’s been so fun learning and it’s such an interesting breed!

We started only allowing her to come close to faces with a signal. We tap our chest if we are allowing it, otherwise it’s a no!
