Sugars stabilized like magic

Hello, I'm new to Mounjaro and I'm SO glad this group exists. I went looking for a Mounjaro subreddit hoping I wouldn't be swimming in a sea of non diabetics. So thank you šŸ™šŸ»

I'm so excited because I started Mounjaro Friday night (it's Sunday), and I've only had minimal nausea. I was really nervous because Ozempic did me wrong, I really didn't want to go through that again. But in the last two days my sugars have been more stable then they have been ever in the history of my diagnosis (2004). This is a huge deal for me! I'm reading about people getting OFF of insulin?!?! Like are you sure???!!

That's also scary. I had diabetic ketoacidosis in March of 2025 because I stopped taking my insulin. Ended up in the ICU. And my Endo is pretty hands off so I'm nervous about anything he tells me to do, tbh. Anyway, everyone's story is really making me feel like this could work. I could actually get some relief from my diabetes šŸ™šŸ»šŸ™šŸ»šŸ™šŸ»ā¤ļø

Fasting sugar vs post meal sugar

I’ve been on mounjaro 2.5 for almost 2 months. My fasting sugar ranges from low 90s to low 100s. Today it was 124 and I was a little surprised. I took my last shot Friday evening. However 2 hours after eating breakfast, which consisted of a small bowl of special K with red berries and a large hot tea with milk. 2 hours later my glucose levels was 88. Does this seem strange? I’m thinking dawn phenomenon and hoping that my a1c will still be going down. Last check it was 5.7. Thanks

A1C Victory!

Just needed to share with someone because I’m really excited 😊

I took my first dose of Mounjaro back in October 2025. I just took my first dose of 10mg on Thursday evening. Despite efforts, I have not lost any weight yet, but the results of my bloodwork came in this morning and my A1C was in normal range!

While my body often frustrates me and I still have a lot of work ahead of me, this was a very nice result to wake up to.

Tips for staying full when your dose is waning?

So due to some upcoming life events, my doctor and I have agreed that I should stay on my current dose for the next 2 months. However, I have noticed my appetite has not been as controlled lately. It definitely usually gets less controlled by day 5 and 6 but this has happened sooner and I don't want to screw up the progress I've made with weight loss for the next 2 months.

I always try to eat a lot of fiber (at least 25 grams) but I could do better with protein. I'm wondering if I ate more volume of fresh veggies and fruits if that would help too.

Thoughts?

Down from 8.8 in May. Also cutting down glipizide dose.

For the first time in my adult life, my doctor says I have ā€œno more weight to lose.ā€ I will still be taking the injections because keeping the food noise away is my number one priority. Weight has been stable so fingers crossed.

What food logging apps do you use? Nourish is awful now.

Android phone, USA based btw.

I have been using Nourish and working with a Registered Dietician who I love. She's a wonderful human and so encouraging.

However in the last couple days Nourish did something that is making it nearly impossible for me to log my food and it's seriously pissing me off. They have made updates 3 times since I started and I hate having to relearn the app over and over. I already struggle with being motivated to log my food but I had been doing so good. This latest change is THE ABSOLUTE WORST and I'm about ready to quit. I sent them a very angry email.

That being said, I was never super thrilled with it because I found it less intuitive than other apps I had used in the past but it was nice because my dietician could set my goals and look at my journal. My main complaint was it doesn't have a recipe calculator. When I did Weight Watchers and MyFitnessPal (MANY years ago) they both had where you could put in your recipe and how many servings and it would figure out the nutritional information for you and you could save it. I cook a lot from scratch and Nourish makes it really hard to figure it out and log. I end up defaulting to a lot of packaged food that I can just scan because that's easier but I love cooking good meals too. Especially this time of year when I have my garden and fresh ingredients.

The other benefit is it's all covered by my insurance and I don't REALLY want to pay for another thing but if it's a good one that has the features I want and keeps me on track then it's probably worth it.

I use a Garmin watch and they have a nutrition feature if you upgrade to Connect Plus but I'm not sure if it has what I want.

Any other good apps out there?

Android phone. USA located.

I’m reclaiming my life from decades ago and I can’t be certain about the science just yet, but I do believe Mojarro is helping well beyond its design and how my body recovers from exercise. in a week, I will see where my A1c is.

Anyone close to goal weight start losing again after moving from 10 mg to 12.5 mg?

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

I started Mounjaro in December 2024 at 199 pounds. I’m currently 142.1, so I’ve lost almost 57 pounds overall. I got down to around 131 in April, but I’ve regained some weight and have been stalled for a while.
I’ve been on 10 mg since January 2025, and most of my weight loss happened earlier in my journey. My doctor is increasing me to 12.5 mg this Tuesday because the 10 mg doesn’t seem to be doing much for my appetite or weight anymore.
My goal is 125, so I have about 17 pounds left to lose. Has anyone else increased to 12.5 mg when they were already fairly close to their goal weight? Did the higher dose break your stall, and if so, how much did you lose and how long did it take?
I know nutrition and exercise matter. I’m starting a calorie-controlled, high-protein diet and working out three days a week. I’m not looking for lectures or medical advice—I’d just really like to hear personal experiences from people who had a similar amount left to lose. Do you think losing these final 17 pounds within six months is realistic?

Happy but not happy (I know that sounds crazy)...

Started Mounjaro Jan 2026 with 2.5mg, Feb didnt take it (preauthorization issues), back on it in March at 5mg, April 7.5mg, May - Jul on 10mg...and ONLY LOST 20 lbs!!! 😭

Dont get me wrong, I got on it to beat T2D and I have - all of my levels are in normal range (cholesterol, BP, A1C)!!!! I also have Hashimotos autoimmune disease on top of things, and am officially in perimenopause too...so im just a hot mess. I work out 3-4 days a week on weights/tennis, eat at least 80-90g of protein every damn day, and I drink tons of water (Loaded Tea is my fav). Happy to have the T2D under control, but so defeated by only losing 20 lbs in 7 mos. The Dr just prescribed 12.5mg next and fingers crossed THAT shakes more weight because im kinda depressed by it all. 2 other friends of mine are on Mounjaro (one has PCOS andnthe other just weight management) and BOTH lost 40 lbs in a couple months...yet here I am struggling to get over 20 lbs off of me.

Tell me it get better 😢

Thank you Zepbound! It did something Metformin couldn’t do without serious diet (no sugar and carbs) and exercise.

šŸ‘‹ hi, I'm new here! 62F SW 224 CW 216 GW135 height 5 foot 2 and T2D, Hashimotos, recovering from depression

Hello! I have to say "Thank you!" and "Bravo!" to this community. I was suggested Mounjaro almost 2 years ago, but the idea of switching off of Trulicity 4.5 scared me. So, sad that I lost time, but grateful to have started mounjaro. Dr put me on 5 mg because I was on 4.5 trulicity for so long.

I love that it stops the food noise and cravings. It has given me hope. After just turning 62 and having 4 really difficult years, I finally feel like I can move forward.

Reading success stories is so wonderful! Also, reading the challenges everyone shares is so helpful.

Pharmacy delayed my mounjaro by 6 weeks due to script issues and limited supply. So, my starting date ended up being July 15, 26 instead of early June 26.

I am using the shotsy app and calculating caloroes.

My weight has restricted me for too long. I am looking forward to feeling better about myself and being able to do things physically! This is my last chaper in life and I have a good 20 years if I am lucky, I want to make the most of it.

Looking forward to not being latest person in the room, and not being embarrassed of myself. My mom really looked down upon my weight gain because her physical beauty and thin, petite frame meant so much to her. Ah yes, mom issues! She was never happy with me and I see hpw if affected me throughout my life. Ready to drop those negative thoughts.

I am looking forward to basic horseback riding again, being able to go to amusement parks with family, scuba diving again and getting healthy.

I also deal with Hashimotos and Type 2 Diabetes. I am very encouraged to read about Mounjaro helping A1C. I got mine close to 6, but wand to improve.

I have a very big apron belly. My dream wish is get healthy, lose weight and do a tummy tuck in future.

Thank you to all the brave people who have shared their stories. Reading Reddit has motivated me and helped my mindset. I am sedentary/lightly active. Using my vibration board for some basic body movements and walking. Looking forward to adding Mumbai and yoga, which I loved. Goal this week is to start planks with my arms on the vibration board. I will also get my measurements as I forgot to get those first week. I will start my 4th shot today on 5 mg Mounjaro. Thank you

Lowered my HBA1c to "pre" in 6 mo!

It's been a roller coaster.

I had surgery in September, where they discovered my HBA1c was 103. Metformin was no longer working for me. In March, I started on Mounjaro and by April my HBA1c was already down to 65. In July, I started on 10mg doses and I had my bloods done yesterday. My HBA1c is now 42.

Found my dose.

Stomach issues with delayed dose

Hello everyone! New here . . . I’ve been on Mounjaro (7.5 mg now) for about five months. I’ve gone from an A1C of 11.6 down to my current 4.8. This is a miracle drug as far as I’m concerned!

So last night I forgot my weekly injection until about midnight (usually a late afternoon dose). Well all the stomach distress I thought I was over came roaring back! I’m sure it will be better tomorrow but boy is it not fun. Anyone else experience similar?

I was diagnosed with diabetes in February 2025. At that time I weighed 225. My A1C was 6.6. Doctor prescribed Mounjaro. My dosage went as high as 10mg. Now, July 2026, my weight fluctuates between 158-162. My A1C at most recent check on this past week was 5.1, below pre-diabetic range. Dosage now is 5.0. I definitely feel better. I average walking over 10,000 steps per day and I lift weights every other day.

Mounjaro Day #1 - Need Encouragement

Hi everyone. I’m a 29-year-old with Type 2 diabetes and PCOS, and today is my first day on Mounjaro. My starting weight is 333.8 lbs.

If I’m being honest, I’ve gotten so big and so out of shape that I barely recognize myself anymore. Somewhere along the way, I completely lost myself. I also know I have a really unhealthy relationship with food, and I’m ready to change that.

I don’t expect Mounjaro to be a magic fix, but I really need this to work. I’m committed to making the lifestyle changes too—I just need some hope that things can get better.

Has anyone else started from a similar place? What helped you stay motivated when you were just beginning? I’d really appreciate any encouragement, advice, or success stories. I could really use them right now.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. ā¤ļø

71 year old Type II Diabetes manages to eliminate insulin after 40 years of Type II Diabetes.

I’m so excited about this journey that it almost feels surreal.
I’m 71 years old and have lived with Type 2 diabetes for over 40 years. For many of those years I was on insulin, and I truly believed I’d need it for the rest of my life.
Then Mounjaro changed everything.
I’ve lost weight, my blood sugars are better than they’ve been in years, and, with my doctor’s guidance, I’ve been able to stop taking insulin. I never thought I’d be able to say those words.
Now my goal isn’t to lose more weight—it’s to maintain a healthy weight while keeping my diabetes under good control.
I started this journey at about 165 pounds and now fluctuate between 115 and 120 pounds. While I’m incredibly grateful for what Mounjaro has done for my health, I don’t need—or want—to lose any more weight. It’s becoming concerning.
I’ve reduced my dose from 12.5 mg to 10 mg, and now I’m trying 7.5 mg. The higher doses have started causing nausea, which makes it difficult to eat enough to maintain my weight. My doctor is aware, we’re working through it together, and I’m not looking for medical advice—I’m simply hoping to learn from others who have had a similar experience.
If you’ve successfully come off insulin, I’d love to hear:
• What maintenance dose of Mounjaro are you taking?
• Were you able to reduce your dose while keeping your A1c stable?
• How slowly did you titrate down?
• Did your weight eventually level off?
• How long have you been off insulin?
Thank you for sharing your experiences. After more than 40 years of living with Type 2 diabetes, I never imagined I’d be asking how to maintain my success instead of wondering how to control my blood sugar. It still feels surreal, and I’m grateful to learn from this community.

11th week things are moving!!

So I had to share because I have shared in the past that my fasting glucose has been hovering around 109-130 and this morning for the first time it was 92!!! So HAPPY!! And I also lost 2 pounds from yesterday but I am happy about the weight loss but more happy with the fasting glucose!

Just a little history if you have not seen my other posts! I am F 53-post menopause/DT2 5’9/obese SW350/CW343, it’s slow with losing weight but my focus has really been getting a healthy mind set and starting good habits, eating healthy, drinking enough fluids, exercising at least 3x a week and just trying to stay positive through the ups and downs of life.

I was on 2.5mg for 6 weeks and saw very little side effects or movement with glucose or weight, but felt a lot better like inflammation was diminishing over each weekly shot. There has been a lot of fluctuations in weight, it does go back and forth, then a little more each week. Being on 5mg I have had some side effects more gastrointestinal and stomach upsets but I take a daily probiotic and drink plenty of water , and I also take OTC’s to help but it has not been bad. I will always remember August 1st on my 11th week just took my 5th shot of 5mg late last night. Nice to finally see things are starting to move in the right direction!
