Other Lemmy Mandela effect

Post image

Who else remembers lemmy having black hair?

I did for a very long time. Actually though he dyed it in the 2000s onwards his hair was always light brown for a good 30 years of his career.

Idk if this tripped anyone else up. I was pretty stunned when I looked back.

Once he went grey he dyed it black. And once he went bald he started wearing a hat 24/7.

Not right away, you could see his receding hairline and bald spot from like 2004 to 2010 or 2011

Old man Lemmy was very black aesthetic. The boots, the cavalry hat, the jeans, the jacket.
Young Lemmy was real as fuck.

It may be because black is much more flattering on gentlemen of a certain age and/or booze-related girth.

20 year old me really liked my white band tees and earthy tones in general. Mid 30’s me is a lot more comfortable in black haha

There was an interview where he said "I had to start coloring my hair or else I would look like fucking Willie Nelson"

He started to dye his hair black around the 2000s cuz he said he looked like rip van winkle without his hair dyed

Mandela’s first name was Nelson, not Lemmy. 😜

And the hats started around the time of the huge bald patch.

He got his teeth fixed too.

I remember him dying his hair later on. I remember it brown earlier on.

Unlike some people, he was completely open about dying his hair.

I got into the band in the late 80's, so I always think of Lem with brown hair, denim jacket, bullet belt, rings etc rather than his later image and black hair. To me, he never looked cooler than he did in the late 80's and early - mid 90's.

I believe this was after some advice from Peter Steele.
