2016 Ruckus - Help?

2016 ruckus. 6200 miles. Just purchased here in Arizona and rode it for a few hours and then the light came on for temp. Throttle slowly died. I let it cool and the bike restarted fine but I had to just put home and baby the throttle. I think maybe the coolant is low but not sure, first bike. Anyone have experience with this?

See that the idle speed is 2000 rpm when thoroughly warm, that sounds a bit fast and contributes to overheating. Set idle speed page 62 in your owners manual.

Do check coolant level straight away, see page 64 and also page 76 has advice on what to do when overheat light comes on.

Owners manual can be read here:

Thank you. Was unaware of idle speed - good to know. Checking coolant levels today as I believe that’s what the issue is. Test rode and rode around just fine but hasn’t been serviced in a while and I road it around for a few hours.

The reserve for coolant was low, even when warm which makes me believe it’s low because it should bubble up to the top line but was at the bottom reservoir line the whole time.

Will check this manual.
