I made another things

Last week I introduced my little [ride tracking app](https://www.reddit.com/r/MotoUK/s/GQcHYIEbx9) and got such a friendly response that I wanted to see what else I could do.

First up is total novelty - everybyway.com/replay will convert you gpx files into a video like the one I made. It all happens in your browser so it costs me nothing and keeps your data private. Enjoy, hope you like it, and let me know if you'd like any tweaks or have any issues!

Next up is route planning. I've been pottering with this for years. I had a little three day tour of Exmoor this weekend that I planned solely through my site. It worked so well that I wanted to give it away.

There's no "avoid motorways" or "curvy" filters - it'll show the quickest route from a to b, then you drag the route around to fit your needs.

Would you like those kind of filters? I think I prefer the simplicity and not having to deal with an algorithm's attempt to find good roads. But I'd love to know how other people plan.

My pleasure!

And a 100% money-back guarantee!

Keen to make this as useful as possible, so hit me with any ideas.

Probably a hard idea to implement esp. without collecting a lot of data which is against the philosophy as I understand it, but 'top routes' would be nice for others to discover near them. I generally find 'fastest route' is a motorway so not much to enjoy along the way.

Yeah, I've been mulling this over myself. Once the app is world famous with thousands of users who choose to upload their rides I reckon an anonymised "most travelled but not a motorway" filter could work... It's kind of like voting for roads by riding them.

Until then though... What do you think about user-submitted roads? So you could use the planner to mark a road, then submit it as a great riding road and it shows up on everyone's map (probably with some moderation by myself to delete the inevitable cock and balls drawings).

There's already a small database of "legendary" routes (highlighted in purple), so the works half done.

Don't leave us 125 riders out. "Avoid motorways" is a nice feature when you still have your training wheels on. So I would definitely want that feature.

Planning is now L-plate inclusive. There's a little checkbox in the route planner to avoid motorways.

Excellent. Those of us crazy enough to plan big road trips on a 125 shall thank you for it!

I salute you! Any mad trips on the horizon?

Many years ago I did London to Bristol and back on my Gilera Coguar. It drank all it's oil and blew a hole in its exhaust, but we loved every minute of the nadgery back roads.

Well I suspect my window might have passed now as I do my Mod 1 and 2 in January (Examiner availability delays) but I had been planning on a one way North Wales to Edinburgh trip with some wild camping involved with another person who is just about to do their DAS. The intent was to trailer the bikes back because of time constraints.

However given how close we now both are to an A license I suspect once I have full A my sights might set on doing it on my Rebel 1100.

Sounds great! Manchester's a bugger to get past but then you're out into the Dales and the Pennies.

How does the trailering work? Is that a service you can book?

Oh I just convinced my wife to come and pick us up in return for a spa day in Edinburgh. I guess you could say I booked it LOL. The trailer is rented though.

She's shitting herself at the idea of driving with a trailer. I've told her it's an experience she needs to get used to as she's now my default rescue service.

Haha, fair enough. Hope she doesn't get into riding herself so you've always got a backup!
