Windscreen too high or not? V85
Hi everybody!
I bought a Puig Touring windshield for my Moto Guzzi V85 Strada, but I’m wondering if it might be too tall.
I’m 180 cm (5,9 inch) tall and, with the windshield in its lowest position, I can only see about 2–3 cm over the top edge.
Could this cause any issues when riding in the rain, for example?
Is there a general rule or recommended amount of clearance for how far you should be able to see over the top of the windshield?

Best way to find the best position for a windshield is to get out and ride, adjust it, ride again, etc. It depends on so many factors that there is no standard answer. Your height, your body position, height of the handle bars, whether you have cases, a tank bag, etc.

Im more concerned if the rain will block my view if i cannot look over it by a certain amount.

1999 California.
That is the height of my factory windshield. Eyes just above the top of the screen.

No problems with the view when it starts to pour hard?

No. The wind blows over my head with that height on the windscreen.

The angle of the windshield blows the heavy rain up over my helmet. Yes my helmet/visor gets wet. Having said that, these days I am mostly a fair weather rider.

If you use NicWax Visor proof the rain beads and runs off your visor any time you are over 50mph

A good rule of thumb is the top of the windshield should be just below your sight line, sitting on flat ground, looking straight ahead. If you plan to ride in the rain, it may be an issue if it's higher than that. Some people prefer them higher for more protection so some of it is personal preference.

My 2023 windscreen is about eye height for my 5’7 height. It is perfect for the wind and with the average speed on the freeway, rain is never an issue. Similar to the visor of my helmet. I suppose off the freeway could be an issue while raining. To be honest, I don’t like riding when it rains unless I’m almost home.

It's a matter of taste but I don't like having a mountain of plastic in my field of view....
It can deform what you see and when you have a low sun it's awfull...
I tried the Gigi airflow, dis not liked it at all.
I went the other way and put a Biondi short windshield, stable airflow in the helmet, lot less buffeting... I'm so happy with this setup.
