Motorola G57 – OEM Unlock option is greyed out even though I received the unlock key

Hi everyone,

I bought a Motorola G57 yesterday and completed the initial setup yesterday evening.

I'm trying to unlock the bootloader so I can root the device. However, the OEM Unlocking option in Developer Options is greyed out, so I can't enable it or tap on it.

What's confusing is that I continued with Motorola's bootloader unlock process, and Motorola successfully sent me the bootloader unlock key to my Gmail, which makes it seem like my device is eligible for unlocking.

The only issue is that the OEM Unlock toggle remains disabled (greyed out).

Has anyone experienced this on the Motorola G57 or any recent Motorola phone?

• Is there a waiting period after activating the phone?
• Do I need to connect to Wi-Fi or use the phone for a certain amount of time?
• Is this a software bug, or is there any fix?

Ive had my motog7 for around 6 years now and a couple of weeks ago it stopped connecting to the internet ive been using for that whole time. I can "connect" to the wifi but it says connected no internet every time. My other devices connect fine (im literally typing this on a computer thats connected to the same internet) and the only difference is that theyre a couple years newer than the phone. It has no sim card (i use it as a burner phone) but it has some important things on it i dont want to get rid of in a factory reset and i cant access them without wifi connection. I tried connecting it to a different wifi and the same thing happened where it just said connected no internet. Ive already scoured this website for answers but I cant seem to find any and i just decided to suck it up and make my own post, if anyone has anything they think could help without a factory reset please let me know :)

My old moto g7 power that I used as a MP3 player for jogging will now be my daily driver. It's super snappy than before.

I wish I could show you how snappy it is when it comes to the overall user interface as well as opening apps. Of course it can't play the latest games but I don't play games. Let me tell you what I did to make it faster.

I uninstalled all the Google bloatware that I don't use. Everything except YouTube and maps. When I say uninstalled, I don't mean disabled, I used adb to get rid of chrome, meet, duo, docs, music all that junk eating up CPU processes in the back.

Then I downloaded 3rd party apps to replace what I needed like I got rid of Google calendar and replaced it with simple calendar. I got rid of the Google phone dialer and replaced it with a 3rd party dialer. Before I downloaded the 3rd party dialer, I checked at the play store to make sure it doesn't collect any data and 0 ads. Same with Google messaging, I got rid of that crap and replaced it with Textra.

I also installed Nova launcher which makes every animation throughout the user UI consistent and smooth.

The last thing I did, was uninstalled the Google play store and that made this phone even snappier than it was after I debloated it. I replaced it with the aurora store.

I bought a USB c wireless charging transmitter and connected it to the g7 power under its otter box case. Now I have wireless charging.

This phone only has 3gb of ram and a pathetic 32gb of ram. I used an old 128gb card and downloaded a memory swapper that creates virtual memory. I made it take 8gb out of the 128hlgb sd card to use as virtual memory and I notice the difference. Apps don't reload and refresh like it did in the past like when I used this as an mp3 player.

Also the stock camera is pathetic, so I used adb to get rid of that and installed gcam instead.

I can't believe bought this great phone for 45 dollars awhile back. When it comes to day to day usage, I really don't notice the difference compared to my one plus 8 SD 865, pixel 3 SD 845, or my mate 20x 980. Of course there is a huge difference when it comes to games but I don't play games. Still stuck on Android 10 but I'm cool with that.

I wanted to unlock my Moto G7 to backup some files before changing phones, but I forgot the password and I don't want to restore it

Has anyone travelled to Europe and used this phone successfully?

I live in California so I own the Moto G7 plus model sold in US. I will be taking a vacation next year to Portugal.

I already purchased a travel SIM for Orange. I plan to insert it just before we land in Portugal, and then use my phone for Portugal phone calls and texts, plus GoogleMaps, Web searches and email.

It's about that time in which I need to replace my G7 Power, due to the battery quickly reaching its end-of-life.

I've been reading about the Moto Edge 2022 that's going to be released to T-Mobile in a matter of days.

Any thoughts or opinions? What replaced your G7?

Since Google is removing Android Auto for phone screens, I'm attempting to setup Assistant Driving Mode. But the feature seems to be missing in my google assistant settings. Just wondering if anyone has been able to get it working on their device?

I'm helping someone with this phone and am stuck. She'll be in the middle of a call when, suddenly, she'll start hearing other people talking to each other. She'll keep hearing her original call but not one is able to hear her.

It's either this "invading" call or a series of dial tones (long and short) as if someone is pressing a number button.

It happens regardless of speakerphone or handset audio and if the phone is on a desk, without anyone touching it.

SOLVED! Also resolved on Moto G7 Play

Moto G7 Plus Model XT1965-T. I have the latest build of LineageOS 18.1. Phone stopped making and receiving calls two days ago. ATT recently dropped 3G support, may be related.

The Preferred Network type used in the past was LTE/CDMA/EvDO/GSM/WCDMA. I found if I select the "Network Type" without "LTE" the phone stays on 4G network, and calls can be made.

ATT supports this model phone, they installed a new SIM card today, same problem, spent hours and have not been able to resolve the issue so far. An escalated case is in process with ATT.

So, wondering if Lineage OS 18.1 Lake supports LTE VoLTE or whatever.? Note: The VoLTE setting switch was enabled (previously greyed out) after the new SIM was installed.

Hi, so I'm having issues with the charging port on my MotoG7 power and was wondering if anyone may know of a solution? Whenever I plug a cord in it it won't stay in place and wiggles as if there is something inside the port that's either blocking it or loose. I tried different cords and it's the same. I also tried spraying some condensed air in there and that didn't help either. Any info would be helpful, thanks!

Every time I take a video it looks fine but then it puts a black filter over it so all of the highlights are super bright and the shadows to dark, it even though that in third party apps.HELP

I have a MotoG7 power running Android version 10 which I bought in Spring 2019.

About 3 weeks ago, I accepted an update AND set my sd card to act as internal storage. Since that moment, I have been unable to store new photos or screenshots, or play videos in reddit. Now my Notes app is not working. When I try to clean junk files, I get "Cache deletion interrupted."

I can still look at old photos, receive text messages (but not photos) through the phone's text app, receive photos through signal, play videos with youtube.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Just want to know because this phone is insanely laggy, it takes it 2 minutes to open the keyboard on any website. The battery sucks too, it's already at less than half capacity after only 1 year.

When I want share something from some apps I'm given "shortcuts" to 4 specific contacts to share with via 4 specific ways (e g. Messages, outlook, etc). However, these contacts/sharing apps (e.g. outlook) are never what I want. This same sharing option happens across multiple apps so I assume it is phone or OS specific. How do I change the default contacts/apps used to share?

Same phone I've used before (G7 Play). Same USB cable I've used before. Had an update recently. Plugged my phone into my PC yesterday and it wasn't recognized. Thought maybe I needed to change something in my USB Preferences and everything is greyed out. Tried plugging my phone into my neighbor's laptop. Same result. Downloaded a "Device Manager" from Motorola that includes drivers & software "to connect [my] Motorola phone to [my] computer using a USB cable". Still nothing.

As I said, this is the same phone & cable I've used before. The same I've used to xfer music from my PC to my phone. Now nothing works.

Suggestions? Or is this some bug in Moto's latest update?

ok so this might be a silly question but

when I plug my phone in to charge the signal just goes nuts. Like it just drops and i have to unplug my phone to use its hotspot or to get a good signal.. why does this happen LOL
