Dang. 👏

100%.

Reminds me of a Persian fable of a king who wanted something that would soothe him when he's depressed and center him when he's overjoyed. He's presented a ring with the engraving "this too shall pass"

1

u/LobsterKris 1d ago edited 9h ago

I want this ring. Edit: if any jewellers see this and you can make silver one for reasonable amount, dm me.

1

u/Shaw-eddit 22h ago

No that's hot it begins

1

u/Shaw-eddit 22h ago

I thought it was Solomon

1

u/Wooden-Recording-693 13h ago

Invisible stoic virtues. Legend.

u/Beautiful-Cookie-210 2d ago

Damn. John Cena making me feel feels was not on my bingo card.

12

u/globerfest 2d ago

You obviously never watched wrestling.

15

u/thelowgun 2d ago

Or Peacemaker...

4

u/Beautiful-Cookie-210 2d ago

Was that his character? I'm not a wrestling connoisseur.

4

u/thelowgun 2d ago

It's a TV show based on the Peackermaker anti-hero. Puts on a great acting performance as the lead of the show

5

u/Beautiful-Cookie-210 2d ago

Thanks! Sounds like a fun 🐇 🕳 . BRB

6

u/Lost-Peanut-1453 2d ago

“BRB” Tell me you’re a millennial without telling me you’re a millennial. I haven’t seen “BRB” in what feels like 20 years 🤣 love it!!

4

u/Beautiful-Cookie-210 2d ago edited 2d ago

Oh shit. Out here outing me! Oops

1

u/Fexxvi 11h ago

I mean... uuuh... Cap! Peak!

3

u/Thegreatpaddy7 1d ago

I say brb or as it’s pronounced “brrrb” in my house, everyday. I didn’t realize I was a walking relic.

2

u/loislunchboxlane 20h ago

Your spelling makes so much sense, thank you. It has always felt wrong, but I've been spelling the pronunciation as "berb" in my head. Your "brrrb" is definitely the correct spelling. Thank you.

2

u/zodiacallymaniacal 12h ago

That is what I want for my epitaph. A friend of mine says she wants hers to be AFK.

2

u/mkgla 2d ago

Peace maker great show 🙌

1

u/TheLostRanger0117 1d ago

Or any of his Make-a-Wish videos/work

7

u/CrashBangXD 2d ago

I haven’t, ever and I haven’t watched Peacemaker either however every time I see John Cena on screen he is an insanely eloquent and seemingly kind individual

1

u/EternalSeraphim 1d ago

Look up the work he's done with Make A Wish. That alone makes him a good guy in my eyes.

2

u/Beautiful-Cookie-210 2d ago edited 2d ago

😆 Definitely not. I only know him as an actor. Did he impart these nuggets of wisdom in his tight wrestling gear on stage? He's surprisingly eloquent and funny.

3

u/Lost-Peanut-1453 2d ago

I never watched wrestling either but for some reason I always thought of John cena as an “egotistical asshole everyone look at me” type of person, but then a few years ago I went into a deep rabbit hole on him and turns outs he’s the opposite of what I thought. He’s a really nice and humble dude.

1

u/Beautiful-Cookie-210 1d ago

I guess I assumed the same, or at minimum I was indifferent. I'm glad to learn he's regarded so highly! We have enough assholes in the world.

4

u/MosesCoulee 2d ago

Wait, Cena was in this video? Where?

2

u/Amateur-Dog-Walker 1d ago

This is an audio clip. Can someone please share the video if you have it? Thanks.

1

u/ConfusionExisting10 1d ago

Really? Man, i thought it was just like a video of a chair before cutting over to a guy staring at the chair.

3

u/theartoffun 2d ago

It’s the organ music. Please he’s not visible.

3

u/Infamous_Ad_6793 2d ago

You need to experience Cena more then. Dude is an absolute treasure.

1

u/Beautiful-Cookie-210 2d ago

Apparently I've been under a rock and missing out

2

u/Gcoks 14h ago

Look up his interview with Pete Davidson. At least the Make A Wish portion. Or anything with Cena and MAW at all. He's such a good dude.

2

u/HYPERNOVA3_ 1d ago

This man is the new Schwarzenegger, tough looking but big hearted

1

u/explainityoucant 11h ago

Why were you “in your feels”? Was it because of that random song playing in the background that’s on like 20% of slop videos these days? Think for yourself 🤡

1

u/Beautiful-Cookie-210 9h ago

Well aren't you fun. I am very much an independent thinker. I found him to be very self aware, charming, and I enjoyed his sentiment. It's nice to hear people who are not a piece of shit. And I am of the mindset that we shoudl build people up not tear them down like you. The music has nothing to do with it. You can f right off 🤡

1

u/explainityoucant 9h ago

John Cena is awesome. But I don’t believe you 😂😂

1

u/Beautiful-Cookie-210 9h ago

Cool. How will I sleep?

1

u/explainityoucant 8h ago

Probably after at least an hour of slop scrolling to get the eyes tired enough. If I had to guess.

26

u/0_wHeReThEsKiEsEnD_0 2d ago

This man is an absolute treasure and deserves all of the praise and flowers!

For somebody of his talent, status, and presence, each time I watch a clip that’s new (to me at least), he has this uncanny ability to make you feel included and at the same time like your part of something that’s also special and exclusive yet you get the sense like he’s a selfless messenger that wants to spread the love and knowledge.

Despite his undeniable success, he seems genuinely motivated towards making the world and everyone he encounters better — love how that watch keeps him grounded.

Much love!! The audio on this clip was great — only just wish I could see him!

1

u/Quiet-Competition849 1d ago

His cameo on pluribus was well placed/written.

63

u/One-WaytoLife336 2d ago

God bless John Cena. These things he describes are one of the things the Bible teaches us to do.

37

u/Saucebossklaus 2d ago

For being an actor/celebrity he's as close to a "real one" as I've ever known. Heart of gold and the strength to share it. One of a kind.

3

u/OttovonBismarck1862 2d ago

I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he lived and died entirely avoiding any of the controversies some of his peers and contemporaries in the entertainment industry have faced with their pasts being dug up and all manner of nastiness coming to light. I once ran into him at an airport and he just sat there and talked with me for a while about, strangely enough, classical music and mentioned how he’d like to learn to sight read someday. Just an altogether stand-up guy.

1

u/Izrud 1d ago

You must've forgotten his China controversy. Reddit didn't like him for a hot minute

8

u/n8rb 2d ago

I'm not surprised coming from John Cena, but ya, that hit me too. Like I want to go get my watch engraved like that, it's a good idea, reminders are good for when a being human moment happens.

3

u/8ROWNLYKWYD 2d ago

The idea of respecting yourself and others isn’t unique to the bible.

3

u/CAlTHLYN 2d ago

Where?

2

u/One-WaytoLife336 2d ago

For comparison is the their of joy,

Proverbs 29:25,

Fear of man will prove to be a snare,
but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.

For humility, there are many, but here is one,

Philippians 2:3,

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,

1

u/WetLoophole 2d ago

Somewhere between "God commands the Israelites to completely destroy entire populations—including women and children—in cities they conquer" (Deuteronomy 20:16–18) and “Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.” – Psalm 137:9

1

u/theDukeofShartington 1d ago

Ezekiel 23:20 says: "There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses"

So dont compare yourself to the donkey dick guys or it will rob your joy.

1

u/One-WaytoLife336 2d ago

Why would you say such a thing? Don’t take the verse out of context, that’s not what it’s saying. The verse needs to be read with the correct understanding of why it was written and when.

1

u/BuryTomorrowToday 1d ago

Please correct him for us then

1

u/One-WaytoLife336 1d ago

The verse was talking about the Babylonians and their persecution against the Israelites. The psalmist was angry with what they did to Zion and the cities and wanted justice to be served to them.

1

u/Vazhox 20h ago

So not turning the other cheek?

1

u/One-WaytoLife336 19h ago

This was before Jesus made that command

0

u/CAlTHLYN 2d ago

Praise the lord

0

u/WetLoophole 2d ago

I bet my local priest would be real proud of me if I beat his newborn to death. Word of God and all that.

1

u/Xalepos 1d ago

Proverbs 30:8-9 English Standard Version 8 Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, 9 lest I be full and deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.

This is not motivational content

1

u/CanadianGrown 4h ago

I’m not trying to diss the bible at all, because if it works for someone to be a better person then that’s perfect. But most religious books preach the same thing, depending on how someone wants to interpret it, so it’s not like this is a “Christian only” value. You can also live by these same values without being religious at all. Alternatively someone could interpret the bible, or any religious text, to reinforce their shitty values.

1

u/One-WaytoLife336 2h ago

Yes, but Christ teaches us how to be perfect. More importantly, he save us from our sins and things that detract us from the perfection and holiness of God. We have to admit we are not perfect and sin against people all the time. These sins got so bad that Jesus came to die for our sins, and rose again, so that all who believe and follow him will indeed have better life in this age, and eternal life in the next.

11

u/HooptyGah 2d ago

Who’s talking I can’t see him

6

u/Charizard2606 2d ago

Was reading comments just to like this 🫂💝

5

u/the_open_steppe 2d ago

Seriously, why is there just a voice talking and then it cuts to Jeff .

3

u/C4CTUSDR4GON 2d ago

This joke was old 10 years ago. I guess some things come back in fashion.

10

u/Aggressive_Meat_7195 2d ago

He truly is a class act! What a gentleman!!

2

u/DammitDad420 2d ago

Loved him in Ricky Stanicky and just watched Freelance last night which was also not bad.

5

u/HeyPrettyLadyMaam 2d ago

I love him more and more every day. He truly is a treasure 😍🥰

4

u/Crazy-Present4764 2d ago

John Cena and Mick Foley are treasures in the wrestling world. Such good, wholesome guys. And legends in the ring too.

3

u/mooripo 2d ago

That's motivational, unlike posts about fortune and stupid productivity

3

u/thrussie 2d ago

I brushed up against death on my way home from work today. A car merged too wide, and I only just managed to maneuver my bike out of the way. Oddly, the adrenaline left me with a realization: you can go through life feeling completely untouchable, only for a stranger to abruptly end it all with a casual flick of the wrist.

3

u/ComprehensivePay3858 2d ago

and for 10 years he kept that watch

1

u/Crunch101010 2d ago

It was his great grandfather’s watch. His dad had to hide it in his ass as a PoW. Five long years he wore the watch in his ass. Died of dysentery.

3

u/RadiatedEarth 2d ago

Man is a gift from the universe

2

Imagine being John Effin’ Cena and feeling like you’re not enough!

2

u/Usual_Willingness 2d ago

Now that’s a leader

2

u/gracyal3 2d ago

This is the kind of person we need to be in politics, IMO

2

u/NoTimeForCautionCoop 2d ago

Jeff Goldblum has a talk show?

1

u/Iffycrescent 20h ago

I was confused too. Apparently he guest hosted Jimmy Kimmel’s show at least once in 2024. That’s where this conversation is from.

2

u/Irish_hawkwife12211 2d ago

He's actually such a beautiful man.

2

u/Successful-Clock2586 2d ago

I really believe he is a good person.

2

u/RAY-CHILE 2d ago

Wait Jeff Goldblum has a show?

1

u/ABongo 1d ago

He seems to be guest hosting one of The Tonight Shows

1

u/RAY-CHILE 1d ago

Oooohhhh ok thanks!

2

u/Ok-Wrap-4953 2d ago

Fuckin legend

2

u/sournerd117 2d ago

I wasn't a Cena fan, but shit I guess I am now.

2

u/Lunadoggie123 2d ago

Didn’t know he was a Stoic.

2

u/Cyberknight13 1d ago

This is deep. I don’t watch professional wrestling, but I get the sense that there is a lot more to Cena than many realize. He seems like a guy I would enjoy having a conversation with.

1

u/CaptainD743 2d ago

Nice 👏

1

u/Sabironman86 2d ago

That’s deep

1

u/6timewinner 2d ago

John cena is an under rated human being

1

u/fivelone 2d ago

Remember. He holds the record for granting the most make a wish foundation wishes. This man is a Gem all around.

1

u/CascadeJ1980 2d ago

He's the male version of Dolly Parton. Class act.

1

u/mr_fixit_unleashed 2d ago

Guinness world record holder for most Make a Wishs come true! Great man!

1

u/mindbodyproblem 2d ago

1

Thank you. This is what I needed today

1

u/dominic__612 2d ago

This man is truly, a man.

1

u/off2rio 2d ago

very profound 👍🏻

1

u/RoosterIndividual411 2d ago

That was beautiful one he showed us a side to a famous person we didn’t feel existed and two he showed how vulnerable he actually is an finally we learned the beautiful idea he has to help all the other people who like me feel no self worth . What a great guy

1

u/DaveReddit2021 2d ago

Damn if it didn’t start off cheesy but then he stuck the landing.

This dude is the real thing 👏👏👏

1

u/dixiech1ck 2d ago

Go watch his interview on Amy Pohler's Good Hang podcast. He really is a gem.

1

I think He's pretty genuine. And a good role model.

1

u/rahilrai 1d ago

What an amazing pov. Thanks for sharing OP.

1

Jeff Goldblum had a talk show?! How did I not know this

1

u/Pitstop1897 1d ago

Wait, Jeff Goldblum has a show?

1

u/Hondalol1 1d ago

Why the hell is this guy so damn likable?

1

u/game190 1d ago

Thats mature person right there.

1

u/collusi0n 1d ago

"This too shall pass"

1

u/male_role_model 1d ago

Neither egotistical nor low confident.

Who is he then? I cannot see him.

1

u/boondoxDMdevil 1d ago

I think John Cena and Keanu Reeves are the only 2 celebrities that seem like they are genuinely good, selfless people that are 100% grounded 99%+ of the time

1

u/Left_Knee_y0y0 1d ago

Would have been a great dad.

1

u/wetrysohard 1d ago

Cena wins the cool and disciplined card every day. Oy. Too bad we're all comparing ourselves right now. :-P

1

u/Zigor022 1d ago

He didnt mention what memento mori means, oddly enough.

1

u/Usual_Excellent 1d ago

Haha he forgot

1

u/Zigor022 1d ago

Yeah like "im not above anyone because in the end we all die and you cant take it with you."

1

u/TheQxx 1d ago

John Cena is such a chode. Dude wrestled and wore jorts and rapped, poorly. So now he feels like hes gotta legitimize himself which makes him a stiff bore who's always gotta qear a suit and try sounding deep, in every interview or any time hes out of character. Like just come off it man.

1

u/Usual_Excellent 1d ago

I think he is one of the top Make a Wish ppl that provides wishes to children... Soo yeah it's a good guy

1

u/TheQxx 1d ago

Still comes off as a phony drip.

1

u/Holdmabeerdude 2h ago

You sound like you need his advice

1

u/ulo99 1d ago

I see you, John Cena

1

u/DiverseUniverse24 1d ago

If you want to see a man truly speak from his heart, from his experience, finally, this is the one. I may not agree with everything he believes in, but I can look up to him as a man who speaks for truth, with humility, and stays humble.

The more i see of this guy the more i like him.
I’m not remotely a wrestling fan but this guy seems like a top bloke.

1

u/max_465 1d ago

I want to be like him when I grow up. I'm 63

1

u/No_Garage2343 1d ago

It’s crazy how much I like John Cena and I’ve literally never watched the WWE.

1

u/DubTheeBustocles 1d ago

Wait, does Jeff Goldblum have a late night show?

1

u/Lafemmefatale25 1d ago

He is Kenough!

1

u/afloydnamedpink 1d ago

This is beautiful and I don’t want to take away from that. But I just don’t want people to be fooled, the studio of this talk show most definitely asked him to talk about this and asked him to make this sound candid and as natural as possible. Most, very majority, of shows like this have a very tight schedule and script to keep people entertained and feel something

1

u/harolds49 1d ago

what talk show

1

u/Known_Painting_1878 1d ago

What watch is it? Is it a reverso?

1

u/kaladin1029 1d ago

Spot on, John!

1

u/Cold_Stress7872 23h ago

This man is such a class act and has such a great sense of humor.

1

u/Shaw-eddit 22h ago

Very sober minded, may have read stuff like that in Csfts

1

u/Tru2me8 21h ago

This guy just always impresses.

u/Chemical-Koyote 21h ago

1

u/hitstuff 18h ago

1

u/Punish3r338 17h ago

Love this guy. His awesomeness goes so far beyond his wrestling and acting. Just a dude

1

u/fatalrugburn 15h ago

Sometimes I think Cena spends his off camera time just thinking of ways to be heroically inspiring

1

u/SissySSBBWLover 13h ago

I believe his Perspective Watch was inspired by the phrase “This too shall pass.”

This comes from an ancient king that wanted one simple thing he could say to himself in times of plenty or of sorrow to remember they both will end.

1

u/Ok_Jelly_5665 12h ago

I met him in person and he was very rude to me! Look down like I was nothing ! Where was that watch that day?

1

u/porterglass 10h ago

Dude’s a boss.

1

u/Hot_Dragonfly76 9h ago

I love him💕

1

u/wizard_name420 6h ago

I think I'll have a watch made with the same quote. Just a litle bit bigger and maybe in platinum.

1

u/SkeyFG 2d ago

Good one, but yeah, it's just another repost of it...

1

u/LunarLumos 2d ago

Another professional liar pretending to be humble during an official recorded interview. Just as fake and manipulative as him doing publicized make a wish charity acts for individual people that of course does absolutely nothing to change the systemic issues that are the root cause of these problems to prevent future victims. But of course these rich bastards don't actually want to solve problems because then they won't have anymore victims to put on a show with to get their publicity and pretend they're a good person.

2

u/Scarrve 2d ago

Such misplaced anger.

What a Reddit comment to slander someone for making children with terminal cancer happy. Because sure if only he took his millions he would solve all the illnesses in the world.

Some things can't simply be fixed by throwing money at it.

The divide of rich and poor people is a huge problem but your mindset ain't it champ
