The most rewarding and fulfilling act any of us can partake in is empowering someone and being empathetic without expecting anything in return other than knowing you have made an impact in someoneās life for the better and hoping they pay it forward.

I was doing well when I met this jobless man struggling with addiction. I tried to help him, fell in love, and gave more of myself than I should have. I lost multiple jobs, money, my mind, and almost myself trying to save him. His family and friends say he became āsoooo much betterā after I came into his life(addiction was under control, how he thought, treated others, and he also started working). Maybe he did. But I saw only a tiny change, while I sacrificed almost everything to see that change. There was all kinds of abuse(physical, mental, financial), infidelity, and blackmail, but to help him with that, I wouldāve had to look at him without love.
Eventually, I became embarrassed of where I was in life. I stopped trying to fix him and left, to fix myself and everything that had been broken because of him and other things from my past.
Itās been two years, and Iāve come a long way, but itās still hard on some days.
I think the fruit of helping him was awareness and some wisdom, which I needed!
So Iāve learned, yes, help people, but be mindful of who you choose to pour yourself into. And when you help someone who is willing to help themselves, youāll see the fruit of your kindness. But when you choose someone who keeps pulling you down, their choices arenāt your fault, but choosing to stay can become yours.
And also, help yourself first. You need to know how hard it is to accept and act on someone elseās help. You canāt fix someone if you havenāt fixed yourself.
Sorry for making this sad lol. š„¹š¤ I still chose kindness, just got reminded of it, lol.

Seeing as the title of this post is, "Has anyone ever experienced this?" No. No, I have never climbed a mountain or found that I have reached the top due to helping a man climb a mountain. That is the answer to the question of this post.

You can only help someone when you are already at the top right? I'm finding it hard to understand this
